WAX or Polish, Don't get them confused

Recommended Posts

Your welcome :)

I washed the Flex today and it looks great, except for one spot, the right rear bumper, some asshole hit my car in a parking lot and put a deep scratch in the bumper! Happened either yesterday or Monday.

Toothbrush to remove the wax. Another way I found is to get a shoe polish kit, the kind that has the brush and not the foam pad(if they are still made) for the polish and use that to apply the wax and the buffing brush to remove the wax.

If you SEE it, you put too much on. Go look at my how to for Zaino, I posted a pic of how much AIO to apply to the pad for one section. One section is half the hood, or half the roof, or one full door, or fender. The bottle I pictured is a 2 ounce bottle, I only put in one ounce for 2 coats, and you can see there was still some left over when I was done.

Just keep in mind it is not a wax, so dont apply it like one! A little does go a long way.

Looks nice! However, if you used one ounce and got only one coat, and it sounds like you did, you put too much on! From what you described on getting it off the paint, too much was used. That is the one thing I was hoping to stress in the How To, you use very little to do the car, a dime size spot will do half the hood. One ounce should do 2 coats with some left over. It will get easier the next time you do it.

As for the detailer spray, go for it, works just fine over the Z. I use Meguiars and Turtle Wax detailer spray. They all work fine over Z.

I hope it does get a little easier, but I also hope I won't have to do it again very soon. I found it difficult to use less than an ounce because the applicator (that I got from Zaino) soaks up so much of it at the beginning. I tried to spread it very, very thin and to use only as much as was necessary to allow me to see it going on. I know that Zaino claims that "8 ounces will do a Corvette 20 times," but I just couldn't spread it that thin. Perhaps practice makes perfect. Regardless, the results were very good, so I don't really mind wasting an ounce if that's what I did.

Great tip on the Meguiar's Quick Detail. That stuff is readily available . . . with no shipping charge. I know that Meguiar's is "good stuff," but they're a wax company for the most part, so I wanted to be sure that it doesn't dissolve Z5.

Did you get the Z6 spray? What they recommend doing is spray the pad with Z6 before applying the AIO or Z5, that way it wont adsorb so much of the Z.

The Turtle Wax black Detailer(for those with Tuxedo Black) is also good on Zaino.

No disadvantage, other than it takes longer to remove. Take a look at my HowTo on applying Zaino, I believe I mentioned it, if not, I will certainly add it.
