What Motor Oil Do You Use/ What Oil Change Intervals/ Who Has the Most Miles?

I'm new to this forum. I recently bought a 2010 Fusion Hybrid with 69,000 miles on it. It was a former government owned car. Carfax showed that it had oil change intervals every 5,000 miles - which I found out was Kendall GT 1 5W20 Synthetic Blend. My thinking was that this car was in great condition - which has been the case, far. Bought it at a great price too!

 

I am curious what oil everyone else is using and what oil change intervals? Especially those with more miles than me. Is anyone changing their oil at the factory recommended 10,000 miles for normal driving conditions?

 

I already had a garage shelf full of Motorcraft 5W20 FULL Synthetic (bought at a $2/qt autoparts clearance price) that I am beginning to use. I also have some Toyota 0W20 to go to when the Motorcraft is all gone. My driving is 80% highway/20% city. I have seen an indicated 50.2 mpg at times, during the summer.

 

I read about NYC Ford Escape Hybrid taxis being sold with 350,000 miles on them. As a result, I would like to be the first Fusion Hybrid to reach 400,000 miles. Wish me luck.

I change at 10,000 and use synthetic blend 5W20. Please read the Owners Guide and Quick reference hybrid guide that should have come with the car, several times. That will really help your understanding of the hybrid. Almost every question can also be found in this forum. Good luck.

It's really a personal preference, I go every 5,000 miles (which is about every 6 weeks) mainly because I've been accustomed to changing every 3,000 miles for the past 30 years, so I could live with extending to every 5,000 but am too set in my ways to make it 10,000 -- and changing every 5,000 the oil normally comes out plenty dirty enough, so I'll stick with that. And I use 5W20 Full Synthetic.

 

So again it's personal preference since it's your money, good luck.
