2014 fusion will be sitting for 3 months. Looking to put battery tender on it. Good idea? Where to place it? Terminals under the hood?

A very good idea. Yes connect to the terminals under the hood.

That is a good idea for any car that will be left sitting for over a month. A lot of luxury cars, with all their computer gadgets that pull maybe 1-30 milliamps of current when the car is off, recommend doing that for second home vehicles.

A "smart" charger, not a constant "trickle" charger is preferable. Trickle chargers degrade the battery in other ways. There are smart trickle chargers available.
