Where is the dip stick?

Recommended Posts

To check the fluid, there is a plug on the side of the transmission case, near the drivers tire. There is a picture posted somewhere on this forum.

2013 and 2014 are known to have a slow leak, so its a good idea to at least check it. You will have to lift the car to do it.

I think the fluid replacement mileage is bogus. I'd change it more often. You can only drain about 5 quarts, so its not that expensive to do.

There is an internal filter screen also, it can't be changed unless the trans is removed and disassembled. Thats why I think its better to change the fluid ahead of time, to keep it all clean.

The transmission fluid is not used nor subject to the same contaminates as an automatic transmission. It's used more like a differential. The recommended maintenance interval is sufficient.

Although there are no clutches and bands. There are still bushings, bearings, gears and condensation.

I don't have 150000 miles on mine, so I don't know what the fluid would look like at that time. But I don't think it hurts to change it ahead of time or at least check it.
