Second Transmission Issue - 2013 FFH
GrayStrider replied to GrayStrider's topic in 2013-2016 Fusion Hybrid
I just ended a chat with someone on the Ford site. This is what they told me: The Hybrid-Unique Components Warranty is active for 8 years or 100,000 miles, whichever occurs first. The transmission is covered under the Powertrain Warranty which is active for 5 years or 60,000 miles, whichever occurs first. I'm at 98K miles. Frustrating because they put a brand new transmission in it in early 2015 - I should not be having issues with this AGAIN, 50K miles later. It was suggested that I contact the service manager at the dealership to verify next steps and a resolution to this issue. -
I will look into this as we are very close to the 100K mark. Thanks.

Second Transmission Issue - 2013 FFH
GrayStrider replied to GrayStrider's topic in 2013-2016 Fusion Hybrid
Sorry, was having trouble finding the other post last night. The dealer said it's out of warranty even though we're just under 100,000 miles. Will look at the warranty booklet, thanks for the heads up on that! It's also frustrating that the new transmission didn't start with it's own warranty, that the original mileage still applies to it even though there are under 50K miles on that transmission. -
Looking for some assistance - We had the transmission in our job 1 2013 FFH replaced at around the 49K mile mark (thankfully at no cost to us). At a recent oil change, we were told the 'new' transmission has a small leak. Took it into the dealer and were told it would be $1600+ to fix. Haven't had it fixed yet, but talked to the shop that services our other vehicles and they thought we should contact a Ford customer service rep because of having a transmission issue in under 50K miles on the newer trans. Don't know who to contact - suggestions? We're in Southern California. Thanks!

New transmission followed by constant CEL

I also have a Job 1 2013 FFH. Transmission was replaced in early 2015; now we have a leak in the replacement transmission. Dealer wants $1600+ to fix. Really don't think two transmission issues within the first 100K miles is supposed to happen. I have a 2005 Saturn VUE that's nearing 200K and I've NEVER had a transmission issue with it. Frustrated! -
Haven't been on in a long while. Had the new transmission put in at dealer cost at the 49K mile mark on our Job 1 2013 FFH, back in early 2015. Earlier this month during a routine oil change, we were told there's a trans fluid leak. About a week later we got it in to the dealer and they said they'd need to do a $1600+ repair job to fix the leak. Seriously? What is it with the transmissions on this car? I'm wondering if we need to contact Ford about this (not the dealer, someone higher up) and see what assistance we can get. We haven't had it fixed yet. Suggestions? My husband spoke to the shop where we have our Saturn VUE serviced and they thought it to be rather odd that we'd be having a second transmission issue, and it's rather curious that each time it's been at about the 49K mark on each transmission where there's a problem. Help!!

TSB 13-5-24 TING/POP/CLICK-TYPE NOISE - FRONT HALFSHAFT

Stopped in at Ford dealership in Roseburg, OR and they diagnosed the same (TSB 13-5-24). No parts but told ok to drive. Called Tony, my service rep at Raceway Ford in Riverside, CA and asked him to get parts ordered. We'll be back from vacation early next week. Hoping this doesn't cost a ton. -
I thought our 2013 FFH was up there! We're at 61.3K miles. New transmission at 49K. On a road trip, in Northern CA on way home to SoCal after a trip up to Seattle area. Noticed a strange noise coming back through Oregon. Checked the forums here, and it sounded like TSB 13-5-24. Stopped in at Ford dealership in Roseburg, OR. Let them diagnose it whiteout telling about the TSB and that was the issue. Of course no parts, so called my service rep back home to get him busy on getting us the parts for the thrust washers on the halfshaft repair.

Is this a trsnsmission issue? I have a job 1 2013 FFH which got a new transmission at 49K miles. Just passed 60K miles today. On a roadtrip and noticed a clicking sound when accelerating after stopping for a fill-up. Sounds like issue reported on TSB 13-5-24. Suggestions? -
2013 FFH purchased end of November, 2012. Car says 38.5 mpg lifetime. Calculated based on fill-ups is more like 37.3 to 37.5 (need to add to my Fuelly app).

It was also great that the dealership covered the cost of the rental while we were waiting on the part, which took close to a month to receive and install.

Stopped by our service department yesterday - my car was their second FFH transmission replacement. They've done two since mine, and have another coming in this week. We were assured that they now know of a manufacturing issue in the original transmissions, and that the new one they replaced it with does not have the issue. Still falls under the same warranty - 8 years/100K miles from purchase of car, even though it's a new transmission. Really wish they'd consider an update on the warranty since it's a new major part, but I guess I should be happy that the replacement cost me nothing.

Right, the musty odor (thankfully it's not constant) started when we were out of the 3yr/36K warranty period. The good thing is that the transmission replacement didn't cost us a cent - they paid for a rental for us while our car was at the dealer (for a full month) while they waited for the new transmission to ship. Installation was pretty quick - it just took what seemed like forever for the replacement to arrive at the dealership. I'm wondering how many more of us there will be as the 2013 FFH's get up in mileage?

Our cars will soon be paying off again.

I WISH ours was that low! We've gone from 3.499 after a refinery fire in the state back down to 3.259 this week - after hitting a low of 2.499 locally over the Christmas holiday.
