FordService Report post Posted March 23, 2015 Called Ford.Waiting on a call back. But I took a few pix. This one shows it the best.Still wax around it too.Hi vagonebuy, I have to say, that's one of my favorite shades on a vehicle. Have you heard back yet, and do you have an appointment for your dealer scheduled? Please let me know, along with your mileage, and I'll check into some options. murphy Report post Posted March 23, 2015 Can't be rust, the hood is made of aluminum. Check it with a magnet. 1 GrySql reacted to this
vangonebuy Report post Posted April 2, 2015 Ford Dealer looked it over. Will fix it. No problems so far. Bring it in next week. I should have mentioned that the bubbling starts under the hood at the fold seam and worked it's way around to the top of the hood.Small pimple like texture. Many bumps tightly together. Not sure what caused it. Contamination on the metal before paint or reaction to salt or too much wax. ;)Something for other to watch for. Can't be rust, the hood is made of aluminum. Check it with a magnet. That was funny.Your right. It's not rust.
tr7driver Report post Posted April 2, 2015 Ford had this issue with the aluminum hoods on the 2005-2006 mustang redesign. They were good about repairing it under warranty for most everyone I talked to that caught it while under warranty. You can see a lot of mustangs with grey spots on the front edge of the hood where the paint failed.
vangonebuy Report post Posted April 16, 2015 My Dealer sent it out. They don't do the bodywork.Repair was completed. Perfect. Really fine work.Top side and bottom of hood. Had 2 recalls handled while it was there.Airbag.Emissions software.Screwed up the climate controls.2 temps remained. 0 degrees or 8 degrees.0 was all A/C full blast.8 was all heat full. Back to Boomerang Motors. Clearly, service has been the weakest link in the Ford experience for me.
vangonebuy Report post Posted April 18, 2015 Climate was fixed. :) :) :) Now the radio stays on after we leave the car and the key removed... But it's random. I'll live with it. Unless something else comes up.

GrySql Report post Posted April 21, 2015 (edited) Now the radio stays on after we leave the car and the key removed... But it's random.Take a look at this SSM, it might have something to do with this condition.http://fordfusionhybridforum.com/topic/9354-special-service-messages-ssms/?p=88034 I looked up Audio Extended Mode:Audio Extended Play ModeThe audio extended play mode is a feature that enables the audio system after the ignition is off and any door has been opened. When the power button on the FCIM is pressed, the audio system functionality is restored and remains active for a predetermined time. To turn the audio system off, the power button on the FCIM is pressed. The audio extended play mode will be disabled if the battery saver function is enabled. vangonebuy Report post Posted April 26, 2015 Radio ON problem is gone...... Been a week now.Ghost has moved on. All back to normal. I might fit out the window on a Fusion. No chance on a Camaro.
Sleddog Report post Posted June 10, 2015 Had this same issue right on the leading edge passenger side were the hood ramps up to the next height toward the center. Took it to the dealer, Ford approved the hood for a re-paint. I'm always leery of these type of repairs, but they did a great job. The body shop manager said it was corrosion on the aluminum because of a bad prep job. He said they see quite a bit on the mustangs. 2 GrySql and hybridbear reacted to this
corncobs Report post Posted June 26, 2015 We have the hood paint issue our Explorer. There are 4 spots two of them rather large. Car is out of BTB with 40k, the extend warranty doesn't matter and Ford doesn't care (kinda sad actually). I haven't figured out what to do with it or how the fix but it looks ugly. I was quoted $500 to paint the hood on my FFH.
vangonebuy Report post Posted August 28, 2016 Bubbling paint is back. Slightly higher up the hood.Same side.Same edge. What is the warranty on paint on a 13 Fusion?
vangonebuy Report post Posted September 11, 2016 Paint is warrantied for 3/36.I'm at at 40K.Extended warranty is only covering, if it rusts through the panel. On a aluminum hood. Contacted Ford customer service for any option.Playing phone tag for a week or so.Hopeful I get some offer.

Contacted Ford customer service for any option.Playing phone tag for a week or so.Hopeful I get some offer.UPDATE: Still playing phone tag on this issue.Haven't got an answer from Ford. Yes or No. Dealer who covered this 1st paint repair is for 12 month only warranty.I notice more bubbling paint at 15 month while waxing it.Extended warranty is NO help for your reference. Dealer handed me off to Ford Customer Service to see what would happen. That started the phone tag.Ford Service Rep had closed the case. Because we haven't "returned his call".We've got at least 5 calls into Ford on this.None of our return calls were answered or replied to.Very frustrating. Requested a new Service Rep. this Friday. Was placed back in the 1st Ford Service Rep's hands. Case was reopened. Funny thing, the 2nd rep couldn't get in touch with the 1st rep either.1st Ford Rep was to call me on Friday past or on Monday.(tomorrow) Still very hopeful it is considered somewhat covered.Still love the car. vangonebuy Report post Posted November 13, 2016 Follow up: The Fusion went in for paint repair on 10/31.Once again these are small area's.Largest was the size of a dime.Other spots were really small. All on the hood edges. But, If your keeping the car 10 years+. Gabrielle was my contact person @ Ford of Smithtown. Very nice to work with. Told me 3 days. I told her not to rush it.4 days later, I called back. Was told one more day. Picked up on Friday evening. Too dark to see the work.Saturday morning in the driveway. It looks beautiful. And the Fusion was fully cleaned, waxed inside and out. I'm happy with the repair and the service.Thank You FORD.
