shoover13 Report post Posted June 10, 2014 Hello, I have a 13 Fusion Hybrid, the trunk lid never stays up or opens up fully. Does anyone know if a trunk "shock" can be added to the 13' to fully open the trunk lid?

Does anyone know if a trunk "shock" can be added to the 13' to fully open the trunk lid? When was your 2013 built and does it have a spoiler? Early cars with the spoiler were built with the wrong torsion bars for the trunk lid. There is a TSB to replace the torsion bars in the affected cars. Talk to your dealer. Griswald Report post Posted June 10, 2014 My 14 without spoiler doesn't go all the way up and stay. I hope your torsion bars are better than mine!
dalesky Report post Posted June 10, 2014 Definitely recommend you talk to the dealer. My 13 with spoiler stays up just fine. Unfortunately I did lose the big rubber "bumper" on the right side. It kept coming off, and one day just fell out somewhere.I know Ford wants the trunk lid to stay open, so move up the chain of command if necessary and show them some posts here maybe. Easy Rider Report post Posted June 10, 2014 My 14 without spoiler doesn't go all the way up and stay. I hope your torsion bars are better than mine!Just tested my '14 with spoiler. The trunk pops open maybe 8 inches. Then you must push it open the rest of the way.....but once fully open it stays there. Then I inspected the torsion bars, clearly visible up under the rear window deck at the top of the trunk. It appears that there are two "adjustment" notches.I'm guessing that the top one is for no-spoiler and the bottom notch for with-spoiler, since mine is in the bottom notch. IF....you have no spoiler and want more "up action", selecting the bottom notch might do the trick.Careful though, that spring is STRONG.

I was under the impression that the cars with the spoiler and the ones without have a completely different part.
airbusguy Report post Posted June 10, 2014 (edited) The torsion bars are different part numbers from stock ones. When I took mine in to have them installed, they hooked them on the "weaker" notch. Considering the TSB even has pictures specifying which notch to put them in, I found this quite sad. It was an improvement but not as good as the reinstall on the correct notch 2 days later. jeffo65 Report post Posted June 10, 2014 The TSB is 13-5-18.

But only AFTER you go look at yours and can't find it or don't see the two slots. Mine is a '14 that was made with the spoiler on it. Earlier models or SE's or Titanium's without the spoiler might be different.
