padero9615 Report post Posted May 7, 2014 Hi guys, Sorry if this issue has already been covered. However, I didn't find anything using the search function. I have a 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid here with no remotes (keys). I can get the vehicle in to neutral and the vehicle has power but I can't get the electronic emergency break to disengage. Is there any way to manually realease this break so I can move the vehicle? I haven't been able to find anything on it anywhere. Thank so much for any info you can provide. murphy Report post Posted May 7, 2014 There is no manual release. It's applied by a motor. Normal release.Put your foot on the brake pedal and push down on the parking brake switch. Automatic release.Just drive away and it should release automatically.
inco Report post Posted May 7, 2014 On your console there is a release button. On my SE it's there and you simply pull up to release.

Seems hard to believe you know? Long story but I have 7 of these with no keys that need to be moved all with the parking breaks engaged.
padero9615 Report post Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) On your console there is a release button. On my SE it's there and you simply pull up to release. What exactly does this look like? I've seen in other vehicles if you lift up the center console you can find a loop wire of some sort to pull up that would release the break... GrySql Report post Posted May 7, 2014 If you can put the car in neutral and the battery is charged, try this.Close the driver's door and fasten the driver's safety belt, now get someone to push the car forward. This is called the 'drive away release mode', it might work. The parking brake release is on the left side of the center console, it looks like this, push down to deactivate. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
inco Report post Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) On mine it is on the left hand side with the P symbol on it. Have not used it, but going to the manual it's on page 170 and you life up to engage and push down to release. GrySql went one better and posted the picture for you. Easy Rider Report post Posted May 7, 2014 The details of this "long story" might be important; maybe VERY important. If you are 100% on the up and up, contact Ford for help.

Thanks but I did that already. Not sure how the details are relevant to what I am asking though. I have a vehicle with no keys with the electric emergency break in the on position and I need to release it. I can get the vehicle in to neutral, and the battery is charged... I do not think I am missing any information. If so, what else would you need to know? Thanks

Some of those details are important because they affect how the vehicle behaves.

jeffo65 Report post Posted May 7, 2014 Can you actually shift the car without keys? I know where there are 7 Fusions, and I don't have keys for those. But I don't think the owners of the cars want me to move them. Where they all towed to your place? 1 corncobs reacted to this

Some of those details are important because they affect how the vehicle behaves. One of the mechanics was able to remove something in the center console that allowed the gears to be shifted. I'm no mechanic not quite sure what he did there. It's a push button start.

I tried that as well and still got nothing. I don't know why they arrived with no keys. I work at an auto ramp.

No one seems to have any information on this anywhere. This is just a final attempt to gather some info on this. Yes you can shift the car.
GrySql Report post Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) It is a puzzle, same thing happens if the battery is dead, the car won't move. You'd think there would be a workaround.Call the Ford Roadside Assistance hotline @ 1-800-241-3673. murphy Report post Posted May 7, 2014 Ford Roadside Assistance would not apply to a car in transit from the factory. He works at the place where they unload cars from the train. It's easy to get the car out of Park. Pull off the right side lower console panel, it's held by spring clips. Stick a long screwdriver in the slot and move the colored pawl to release the shifter.I suspect the parking brake release switch just sends a signal to the computer to tell it to release the brake. acdii Report post Posted May 7, 2014 Wonder how they got them loaded without the keys. From what I understand the brake is activated Key On and can only be deactivated Key On. The only way you can move them is with dollies under the rear axle. 3 jeffo65, corncobs and hybridbear reacted to this

FordServiceCA Report post Posted May 7, 2014 Can you actually shift the car without keys? ... Hi jeffo65, I can get the insight you need. Your inquiry has been forwarded to Ford experts; I will keep you posted as soon as I receive their feedback. ;) Kwasi
Easy Rider Report post Posted May 7, 2014 (edited) What else we need to know is that you have a legal right to be moving those cars.........and there is no way for us to know if you have a legal claim on them or not. For all we know, you are just trying to find out how to defeat part of the vehicle security for some other actual purpose and most of the story is "made up". If Ford can't or won't help you, I'm thinking that WE should not either. If, for instance, those cars were destined to be delivered to an actual Ford dealer, you should involve THEM in the problem. They should be able to solve the problem MUCH quicker and easier than you can.
