My new FFH

Hi All,

 

I just wanted to post something to introduce myself, I live in the south bay of the SF bay area, I drive a lot of city miles, my last DD was a 2011 Mazda CX-7 and I would get somewhere between 17 and 18 MPG on average, a good tank with some freeway time would go to 19 or 20 MPG. Well on Saturday I decided to get a brand new 2014 Fusion Hybrid in Ruby Red. She is an SE with the lux package, MFT, Nav, Intelligent access. This car had all the must have options and none of the option I really did not want (park assist, etc) or just did not care about having (BLIS etc) but would have if it had it. The only thing the car did not have was a dune interior but I think I might like the black better at the moment. So far with only about 140 miles on her I am getting around 40mpg, and am absolutely loving the car.

 

When I was doing my research for the car, I decided on the FFH as I wanted good city mileage and have read the EPA and 40mpg rather than 47mpg, knowing that I may get less than that, I can go down to 36mpg and still double my last mileage.

I have the black interior, and even in the Florida sun, I don't find it too warm when I first get in. Tinting the windows and getting a reflective windshield sun screen will also help. You can order one online that is custom made to fit the FFH.

You might find yourself getting better mpg both in the city and on the highway by using the Adaptive Cruise Control (if you have it). Keeping your speed consistent will help increase mpg. If you are like most of the members on this forum, your fuel economy will gradually improve over time - the 5,000 mile mark seems to be the magic number where economy starts going up.

40 MPG at 140 miles is a very good start and once you have learned the best way where and when to keep your RR beauty in EV mode you should get a lot more then 40 MPG.

 

On the other hand you are already happy so enjoy the car the ride and the savings that come with your new FFH. ;)

Welcome. I live in the Bay Area too. My car has a black interior as well and it hasn't been an issue.

I reset my mpg with every fill up. My current mpg is 43.

Brothers in RR arms. I have had many colors of cars in the past, but I have always loved red cars. This red is so nice I get so many people telling me how nice it looks.

 

I joined fuelly so I can add it to my sig once I am on my next tank. Do people on post the FFH or all of the vehicles they currently have?

Their discretion. I post both of mine, though I haven't updated the Fusion since last fall since I am satisfied with what its getting. I update the MKT cause I wan't to know how close the dash to actual is, then once I have that variance, will probably stop adding that one too.

You can add whatever you like from fully - you set it in the signature section. As you can see from above, some of us don't post at all from fully, some post just the FFH, some post additional cars as well. As for me, I only own one car at a time, so the FFH is the only one in my signature.

So I completed my first full tank, the trip computer was showing 41.4 but by the time I got the actual numbers it computed to 38.5, still I am very happy with those numbers, I was hoping for around 40mpg when I got the car so as long as I can keep it around here or improve a small amount I am very good.
