Just purchased our first hybrid this weekend - a 2014 FFH SE. We feel great about the price and expect the money we save on fuel (wife was driving a 2007 GMC Yukon XL to tote the kids around 11-13 MPG city) will offset our monthly costs to nearly a wash! Looking forward to the new experience!

You have just opened a world you never new existed. Use the techniques of driving found here and you are going to be thrilled. Expect your attitude and approach to driving to very positively change. I know mine did. As far as the saving, you are right on.

Wahoo! Another 2014. There are only a handful of us. I elected to just get the Hybrid S model as it had all of the items on my wish list. Going from my Focus LX (hand crank windows, manual transmission) was like moving to a luxury car for me.

 

Welcome. Read lots of the tips. Some of the driving tips are counter-intuitive to how you'd think you'd normally drive to get good fuel economy

Savings in gas is substantial. 7 years ago we got our first hybrid, and we car pooled. The savings in fuel costs between the Crown Vic and F350 diesel that we used to drive added up to more than we were paying for the Prius. I practically drove that car for 10 months for nothing. When I traded it in for something we could actually use for a family of 6, the trade on the car was more than I owed on it, and I also got back nearly $1500 from the extended warranty, so the final cost to own that car was like .01 cent per mile. After that car we got a Hyundai Veracruz, but needed a second car, so I got a Toyota Camry Hybrid. It did OK MPG wise, but was a mediocre car and I did not trust the braking on it, it was also during the time Toyota/Lexus was having runaway issues, so we traded it for a Fusion Sport in 2010. We loved that Fusion, but gas was killing us, at 21 MPG it was costing us nearly triple what we were spending on the Camry, so it went away, sadly, i shed a tear when I handed over the keys, and got a 2010 FFH. The savings in gas on that cut our costs in half, and held onto that car until last year when I got the 2013 HyTi, and our savings has gone even higher with the better MPG of it. 3 MPG doesn't seem like much, but over the miles driven it does add up.

 

If only our first Hybrid were like this car, it would have been paid for, and we would still be driving it, but man do I like the HyTi!

Thanks all for the warm welcome! We are very excited to see the positive changes in our driving habits. My wife and I already compare MPG stats with each other after each drive!

The hard part of having the FFH will be trying to get to use it. If your wife was driving the kids around in the Yukon and now using the FFH, you may need another one. And that's good because two FFH's will still use less gas than one Yukon! :thumbsup:
