found me something new about the car I abs love

So today I figured I'd try pressing and holding the unlock button on the key fob and it did exactly what I hoped it would. All windows and the moon roof opened! Pressed and held lock and they all closed. Anyone else know about this?

It's called Global Open/Close. Something your salesperson should have showed you.

Sales never did, but where I bought the car from was the third dealer I went to. I just basically told them off the bat what numbers I wanted and what options etc.

I think Ford, in general, does a poor job of the delivery process; showing the customer the features of the car. I wrote somewhere I had to show the features of my FFH to the salesperson and he attended the same factory-dealer training on the 2013 Fusion that I did.

 

When I bought the MKZh it was the same thing all over, but with a different salesman. I told the dealer owner that I wanted part of the salesman's commission as I had to do his job. He laughed and thought I was kidding.

My salesman doesnt go over it with me either, then again he knows I know more about the cars then they do. :)

Same here. My salesman wasn't there when the car was delivered and when I picked it up. The substitute wasn't interested in anything.

I gave Ford my feedback in the online survey and they sent me another survey(?)

I ignored the 2nd survey and they send me a 3rd one by mail.

 

I have to yet write up my likes and dislikes about the car and what can be improved to make the experience world-class.

(more likes than dislikes but I really miss a built-in garage door opener. I hate sticking one to the visor)

On delivery my salesman tried to pair my cell phone and got stuck and had to get another salesman to show him how. Other than that, there was no discussion/instructions of any other features. Scince my car was a special prder, I had downloaded and studied the owners manual while I was awaiting delivery and had a fair idea of how the car worked plus a lot of useful info from this forum,

2 pleasant surprises for me were:

- Awesome voice recognition

- The tech gadgetry (ability to read text messages, LCD panels, customize-ability in general)

A good salesperson gets you to sign on the dotted line and leave with a smile on your face. That is what they are hired to do and how they get paid.

Some gain experience and will know more about certain models than others.

Until now...

These new FFH models are so technical that we ask each other, months after we bought the car, how something works.

Can you imagine how hard it is to know everything about every model that Ford sells?

With straight gas/diesel powered cars/trucks there are similarities, this FFH is very different.

Global windows, well yes, that is something they should all know but the stress of the sale and the time involved makes the customer want to get out of the Dealership with their new car.

My Salesperson would not let me leave until I knew how to drive the car, work the controls, connect my phone - the basics, I didn't want to wait for anything else, I'm a know-it-all, right? - Not even close.

 

Meaning, I can understand the salesperson expecting the purchaser to go home and read the Owner's Manual, which some of us don't.

That's why this Forum has 12,000 members, we have questions and would rather talk to each other than read a boring book.

 

While not taking sides here I have to admit that standing there and being lectured about all the features of my new car was not on my agenda, I'm impatient - even if that knowledge was available.

I still have 'features' that I don't use, I don't have a need for them. Maybe sometime I will.

Finding little gems later is sort of fun.

I bought a number of new cars from a dealer in the Phoenix area when I lived there. They were the best when it came to delivering a new vehicle. They had a delivery team whose job was to educate the driver at the time of delivery. They were really good at it.

 

But then, this was the same dealer that insisted on charging me a dealer prep fee. I buy A Plan and this fee is not allowed. I told them that Ford would reject the deal because of the fee and sure enough, they called a couple of weeks later and asked if they could rewrite the deal. For my inconvenience they through in some free stuff for the car.

The salesman at the first dealer when we bought the black FFH did a good job of walking us through the basic features. He helped us pair phones, program memory seats, door keycodes and a few other things. When we got the 2nd white FFH we wanted help from the salesman to teach us about all the new features that we were adding. He just gave me the delivery checklist that they use and had me mark down what things we wanted him to review with us. In both cases we were very satisfied with the salesman training part of the delivery process.

My salesman was phenomenal at showing me the bells and whistles on my car. He showed me this feature and the MyFord features. He paired my phone as well. We had some issues with my phonebook and I had to leave. He followed up several times the following week to make sure I got through my phonebook issue.

 

Yesterday was the first day warm enough to open the windows and I freaked my kids out by lowering all the windows in a parking lot. That'll be very nice to air the car out in the summer without turning on the a/c.

My salesman tried to go through and show me a lot of the features on the car. I, like GrySql, didn't expect him to know everything in that car though. Heck he had barely been around the FFH from what I could tell, but he did make an effort and offered to pair my phone, get memory seats set, etc. I, for the most part, turned his offers down because I knew how to do most of these things on my own through prior research and wanted to do them alone at home. I can see where some people would want this assistance but personally I do SO much research before buying most things (not just cars) that by the time I get them I feel like I know how to use them. And I'm certain that I paired my phone faster than my salesman would have. That's not a knock on his abilities. Not only was he working at a Ford dealer with many models on the lot, but it was at a large dealer with many makes that would rotate the salesmen to different brands periodically. Not sure why they do that but I could tell he was fairly new to Ford.

I was really surprised with how well my salesman knew the car, he even pointed out the 12V battery in the trunk and explained how to jump it under the hood if needed. I don't think he pointed out the global open, but it was lightly snowing at the time, so just as well.

 

On Sunday I was hanging out in the Target parking lot while my wife was shopping and the baby was sleeping in the car. I used the global open to slightly lower the windows, then when he woke up and I was leaving I used the global close. The guy in the car next to mine just happened to be nearby and noticed it and asked me "Wow, did you just close the windows from the outside, what kind of car is that?!?".

This is also true, probably even more so, for the Ford technicians that work on these cars. We expect them to be able to quickly diagnose and fix these technical marvels. If they are not diagnosed and fixed quickly we become impatient, angry, and upset with the service department. These forums are full of examples.
