Ryan Goodlett Report post Posted February 23, 2014 So here is my story of how my HyTi in Tuxedo Black got a door ding or should I say four on its 5th day in my possession. Coming out of church from leading a small group of 11-12 graders and one of the kids had parked next to me. I was in my car and had started it when I felt several hard bumps on the passenger side of my car. When I looked to my right, two kids were rocking back and forth (L & R) and the kid on my passenger side had his door open. I screamed to no avail. Started honking the horn. Not sure if that is why they stopped, but they did none the less. Results were a nice crease in the rear door with two subsequent lighter dents along with a nice pointed dent with the paint chipped on the front. Working with the kids father to pay for it and I don't suspect any issues since we all know each other, but man the anxiety it has caused is more than I expected. Makes me wish the offered a FFH in a rusted out rat rod version :) Ryan
jeff_h Report post Posted February 23, 2014 Sorry to hear about this, and which is why I purposely park far away from others or try to find an end spot and maybe get some more buffer room from roving bands of church youth or others who don't pay attention to what they're doing. 1 hybridbear reacted to this

gkinla Report post Posted February 24, 2014 Dings in the door on a new car is horrible, I feel the pain. My sales person conned me into buying a PDR, (Paint-less Dent Removal), insurance policy. It was for the lifetime ownership of the car. The first week I got got two door dings. I called the insurer and got a call from a PDR removal company. These technicians are magicians, there is no sign of the dings. I just got another ding two weeks ago and the same technician came out and removed the ding, again no sign of where the dent was. This last one was fairly deep and I didn't think it could be removed without leaving a mark of some sort, it was removed without a trace. The only caveat is there can be no paint damage. The policy has paid for itself, I really can't stand dings in a door that destroys the beautiful lines of our Fusions, so I would have had it done anyway. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted February 24, 2014 I have one on the top of my drivers door, 2 inches under the window trim. Stands out. First month of having the car. Some day I will see if I can get it out.
hybridbear Report post Posted February 24, 2014 I feel your pain! We also park far away in parking lots and look for end spots. I hate it when people park close to me. One of our good friends, he officiated our wedding, likes to park close to me on purpose because he knows it bothers me. He is always very careful, but I worry that someday an accident will happen when he's trying to be funny. Our first black FFH made it 1 year and 19,000 miles without a single door ding, it only had rock chips on the front. I learned from the rock chip experience and hopefully will be able to avoid rock chips and door dings on the white FFH for a lot longer than just the few months that the black FFH lasted. The Prius got a few stone chips in the paint on the bumper within a few weeks of when we got it. 2 GrySql and gkinla reacted to this
gemdc Report post Posted February 24, 2014 I really sympathize with this whole door ding obsession. I misjudged the far away parking at the movies and got parked by on both sides and as expected got a ding on my 13 White Fusion Hybrid about a month after taking delivery. Paid a local body shop Paintless Dent Removal guy $150 to take it out. It was near the front edge of the rear door and he had the right tools to reach it without drilling any holes. Just removed the rear door panel and made it disappear. So far, none on the MKZh but takes lots of calculation as to how far out I need to park. SteveB_TX Report post Posted February 24, 2014 (edited) The day after I bought my MKZh I noticed a small ding on the top of the deck lid. It looked like someone had leaned on the car with their elbow and left a dent. When I took the car to my favorite body shop, the PDR guy pointed out 4 more smaller dings equally spaced across the deck lid! My poor old eyes could barely see them. He only charged me $75.00 to remove all five dings, and didn't even have to remove the deck lid liner to fix them. Edited February 24, 2014 by SteveB_TX 2 hybridbear and jeff_h reacted to this
tr7driver Report post Posted February 24, 2014 I passed on the insurance, probably should have bought it. I always park at the back of the lot since the exercise is good for me, but my wife..... Someone nailed my mustang just behind the drivers door up high and pretty deep, probably a rear door on an SUV. I had a paintless guy work on it. It looks a lot better but he couldn't get it out completely.
