acdii Report post Posted January 16, 2014 Here she is without the Evil Eyes. She will curl up with me and claw my wife, or climb over her head. She got her in the ear this morning. When I was out of town, I guess my little kitty missed me, and blamed my wife, she peed on her. Look at that face, does she look like a cat that would do that? 2 elle and hybridbear reacted to this

acdii Report post Posted January 17, 2014 (edited) They all do, cats+woodwork= sawdust. They are rescue cats, which is why her left ear is clipped. She had a very bad cold when we found her, and nursed her back to health, her brother was healthy and is almost twice her size and has Siamese markings with blue eyes. Oh, we have Collies too. Sleddog Report post Posted January 17, 2014 Nice Monty Python reference, acdii. But it would be better if the cat's name was Polly, it was blue and the you were taking it back to the petstore. No cats around here, or any small animals. My Malamutes see to that.

I have Pentatonix radio which is all A Capella, and a group came on with a silly song which I liked. I started hearing other silly songs, must have liked a few others and suddenly I get comedy songs and Monty Python skits and songs now mixed in. Sleddog Report post Posted January 22, 2014 Why yes it does! Malamutes have been known to do silly stuff like this. They are just playing follow the leader. This video was a real hit with the rescue groups. My first Mal did some thing like this when our daughter first started to crawl. She would push my daughter across the floor when she stopped crawling. When she was learning to walk, our daughter would grab onto the dogs fur and use her to stand up and walk around while holding on to the her. Mals are very smart. Many say they are difficult to train. They can be for first time owners. They get bored very quickly. You have to keep them interested in what they are doing. The owners of the 2 in the video have done it right. Attached is a picture of my first Mal. Midnight was very smart, very protective, a food thief, hated the UPS man and loved kids. 3 hybridbear, corncobs and GrySql reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted January 22, 2014 This was my first dog. Purebred Collie. Great dog, though he never did learn to let us know he had to poop and would run upstairs to do it. Here is my current Collie. She is a sweetheart but very subservient. She always looks like we are beating her, yet never hit her, or even yelled at her. Some Collies I guess are like that. 2 hybridbear and Sleddog reacted to this
tr7driver Report post Posted January 22, 2014 Wow, your first collie looks just like my dog Porky from the mid 1960's. I think all the photos I have of him are black and white, lol
acdii Report post Posted January 22, 2014 He was a rare one, had an original Lassie type face with a forehead. Most collies you see now are straight faced, and don't look that good. He was a good dog, really miss his antics. Smart too, I trained him on all hand signals, and he had a backup alarm too. I would make him back up and he would bark all the while he did it. The only thing he never mastered was sitting up, he would try and fall right over. My Lady can sit up, but is no where near as smart as the first one. I cant get her to bark at all. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
Sleddog Report post Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) Very pretty! What a great looking dog! If any of my Mals were as close to a cat as your collie was, it would have become a kitty squeaky toy. One time, when were at my in-laws, Midnight got a hold of one of their cat's kittens. It took 2 of us to pry her mouth open to get the kitten away from her. I asked that the kittens be put in a safe place until we left. About an hour later, I notice her throwing something up in the air. She did it a couple of times then walked away from it. It was one of the kittens. We were too late to save that one. While we were looking to bury it, Midnight grabbed another one and started to squeeze it. The sound it made was like the squeaky toys she loved. About all we could figure out was she would play with the kittens and throw them up in the air until they stopped squeaking. No squeak, no reason to play with it. She did the same thing with the toys, once the squeaker was gone, she was over it. All my Mals are predatory with adult cats. Kittens were either toys or a snack. Any small animal was something to hunt, kill, eat a little of it, then roll around in what's left. corncobs Report post Posted January 23, 2014 (edited) I think I can add a pretty one too. Sleddog your story reminded me of our dogs little hunt. We had a rabbit nest in our backyard and we were able to keep the little ones safe for a while but then they went mobile. RJ got hold of one and it only squeaked for a short moment. About 3 month ago at the dog park other dogs cleaned out a whole nest. That wasn't a pretty sight especially for the ladies. acdii Report post Posted January 23, 2014 This is why I prefer Collies, they wont harm other animals, which also makes me feel the kids will always be safe around them. Its funny to see my horse touch noses with Lady, she squats and piddles. Daddy, he touched me!!! Yet when they are in the pasture, and she is on the other side of the fence, she is so brave! :) 1 hybridbear reacted to this
corncobs Report post Posted January 23, 2014 She is awesome around our son and he can be rough sometimes. We trust her in that respect but I think you should always be alert. They can be the most lovable animals and some day something makes them snap and you will never what or why. 1 hybridbear reacted to this
