Rattle in sunglass and headliner mounted control panel.

Recommended Posts

I thought i remember someone having an issue with there sunglass holder rattling, but i can't seem to find the thread. Mine seems to get worse every day, just the weight of my hand placed on it seems to stop it from happening. But I wanted to know if anyone else had this issue?

My inside rear view mirror was what was rattling. You can't get in it to find the problem. I cut a 5 " long, 1 " wide piece of foam loudspeaker grill, folded it into an "S" shape and jammed it between the top of the mirror housing and the wire channel on the windshield. The rattle is gone and you can still easilly adjust the mirror.

Our first FFH had a couple of rattles in the headliner. The first one developed within a week of delivery and was right near the clip for the passenger sun visor. Swapping the two sun visor clips worked at first to make it go away as I tightened the screws because both were loose. Then the rattle came back after another couple weeks. The dealer took off the headliner and discovered that one of the clips was broken. They replaced the clip and the rattle went away for about 9 months. Then, shortly before we got rid of the black one, it began to rattle again right in the same area.

The rattle was most pronounced when the ICE was on or when going over bumps. It was also most pronounced when it was cold outside and the car was cold from sitting outside.

My first car had this problem. A light touch on the door stopped it, until I hit a big bump then it would start again.
