Stupid Question Alert!! I did it.

Recommended Posts

I traded the 2010 Merc Milan HY for a 2014 Ti Hi, fully loaded with all the toys last night. I though I had most of this stuff figured out, but I expect I'll be floating a bunch of questions to you folks soon.

Stupid Questions #1and #2:

1 I got them to thow in a mini Spare tire. How do you folks with a spares secure them?

2 Trying Eco Cruse. Turned it on. How close to you need to come to a vehicle before it kicks in? I hit the brakes before it did as I wasn't comfortable following that close.

Thanks in Advancd. More to come. I can't wait to try the auto park assist feature once some of the snow around here is cleaned up.

1) I have a full size spare that's kept in the shed, since 100% of the items I've found jammed in the tires over the past 8 years were found while the car was sitting in the garage at home, so it was a suitable backup for me... though yes some others here have the compact spare, just don't remember which one(s).

2) I believe the Eco Cruise is different than Adaptive Cruise Control. Eco Cruise changes behavior slightly while on cruise to keep the ICE from going nuts to keep the set cruise speed on uphills, and takes a little more time to get back to cruise speed, giving better overall MPG when on cruise. I used it but didn't see a big difference.

Adaptive Cruise Control monitors the car in front of you and slows down your speed to match that of that car as needed, and maintains the spacing based on your setting. It is described well in the below video..

Congrats on the new ride. How about some pics and info! :)

Ti Hy, white Platinum with black interior, Equp group 600A, active park assist, Nav, Drivers Assist. No sunroof. It has been snowing since I picked it up. Its hard to get a pic of a white car in the snow. Here is one in the garage.

ok, I'd like to set the display to show the engine temp, RPM, fuel efficiency bars, instant mpg or MPG bars. Can I do that? Can I set the right display to the bars like I did in the 2010, or is leaves the best I can do?

Left screen is the only one that can put useful information on, and Myview can only do two at one time. The right screen is for controlling MFT, and the leaves are useless, unless you like watching them fall off the branches.

Two new stupid questions today:

1: How do I see the engine temp? I can't seem to find a screen to display that.

2: The memory seats/mirrors seem to always default back to setting 1 when I turn off the car. Can I change it so they go back to the last setting used?

Thanks in advance.

Go to MyView, and scroll to the right for settings, on the right side of that screen scroll up/down to find the temp gauge.

Have you set the memory positions and tied them to your key? Sounds like it is tied to the key from default. Once you have everything set, press and hold the seat position you want until you hear a beep, then hold it longer until you hear it again, the first beep sets the seats and mirrors, the second sets your key. When you unlock with your fob, then the seat and mirrors will adjust to your last saved settings. Comes in handy when you have two drivers with different settings.

Thanks for the info, I haven't been holding it down to hear the second beep. I can unlock the door by touching the handle, so I haven't been using the fob to unlock the doors.

Now that I think about it, I set the 1 button to my wife's settings with my fob in my pocket to save them before I reset it for me, so it may be the first setting was linked to my fob.

Can I set 3 settings to my fob and three different setting with the other one? It would be cool to use one fob for me and my daughter and son, and another for my wife and me and her mother.

No, it only will link one position per fob. You would need a third to use all three.

You can also link the three memory seat/mirror positions to the door keycodes.

My advise it to spend some quality time with the owners manual. I learned a LOT by reading it. Did you figure out if you actually have Adaptive Cruise Control? We do not, but I wish we did. It's very cool.

How close to the car do you need to be to use the remote start? I can start my Highlander from inside my office (probably 50 yards away) It looks like I can't start the Fusion from more than about 15 feet. Is there a trick to start it sooner so it can warm up?

Ours works from very far away. I think the range is 1000 ft or so. If you can't get more than 15 feet away before it stops working, something's not right.

I dont know if you noticed, but the Fob has an LED on it, it blinks green when the car starts, and red when it doesn't. It is a two way remote start, car sends a signal when it starts so you dont have to be looking at the car. I can start mine from inside the house and it is parked in a steel car port with the front facing away from the house, so if you can't start yours from inside with either Fob, I would have the car checked out, the antenna might be out of whack.

Today's stupid questions: I have the Intelligent Access Key with push button start.

1) What are the advantages/disadvantages of setting up one of the fobs as a master key? I'm especially looking for pitfalls like if I loose it or something, and advantages that outweigh that risk. Or do I create it and lock it away? (then I'll need another fob)

2) There is a back up physical key in the fob. I found the instructions on how to use it to get into the car. Once I'm in, how do I start the car if the push button won't work? (What are the odds of the door not unlocking but the push button working?)

3) They also gave me a regular key type spare key. I assume this one opens the door. Again, how do I use it to start the car?

Thanks everyone. I appreciate all of your help. It has made is much easier for my wife and I to enjoy the car.
