Howie411 Report post Posted November 14, 2013 So it is not happening all the times but at least 4 times now I've been stopped in traffic or at a light and car will switch from the EV to Gas, I will feel a jolt (almost like someone bumped my car gently). This is on a 2014 FFH. Anyone else ever experience this?
djminfll Report post Posted November 14, 2013 Yes, it doesn't happen all the time, but I too thought I had gotten gently rear ended the first time it happened. Mine is a 2013. I didn't make much of it because it happens very irregularly. 1 jeff_h reacted to this
SteveB_TX Report post Posted November 14, 2013 Just be glad you don't drive a BMW hybrid or Mercedes with the engine start/stop feature! Talk about shake, rattle, and roll. :gaah: 1 hybridbear reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted November 14, 2013 Never noticed it in mine, but the ICE rarely runs when I stop, then again, I may be immune from noticing it since I have been driving hybrids now for nearly 7 years, and they all do that at times.
GrySql Report post Posted November 14, 2013 Yes, sometimes when the ICE starts up there is a slight nudge feeling, and of course I can hear it start.Mine did it yesterday when the SOC got low.
djminfll Report post Posted November 14, 2013 I was a little surprised yesterday, the ICE didn't switch in at all on a short trip. Temps dropped in S. FL, so it was in the upper 60's last night. I had to drive about 1.5 miles to the pharmacy to pick up a prescription. With the A/C off and the windows down, I couldn't help but notice the extended absence of engine noise. I realized that the car remained in EV all the way there. When I turned the car off, it showed 1.5 miles, 0.0 gallons of gas, and 999mpg. I would have expected that due to the temps being cooler, the ICE would go on and stay on since it would take longer to warm up. ICE kicked in on the way home, so I guess it was just a fluke. 1 corncobs reacted to this
hybridbear Report post Posted November 14, 2013 I've found that when the ICE shuts off when you're stopped it is a little rough. I've also had times where the ICE has been cold and right as it reaches a temp warm enough to turn off I am stepping on the gas to go and then it is a little rough because it is trying to turn off and back on all at the same time. Howie411 Report post Posted November 14, 2013 Ok, well at least I know this is a normal issue. Appreciate you all confirming it.
