Order Lead Time

Recommended Posts

Looks pretty close to what the Donlen fleet also says -- this link is also in several other threads, and while it pertains to fleet orders the retail order timing has been close to this - only basing that on being an observer and watching the timeframes on that site and comparing to forum posts from others on how long their orders took.

It was 12-14 a few weeks ago but has since gone up. My local dealerships have a ton on order (awaiting alocation) just for stock as they can't keep the lower end ones in Stock. I'm sure that's what's happening all over. Also I saw a thing last night that budget/avis finished there test of the 13 model in there fleet and are getting a very large portion of there standard cars in that size as the fusion hybrid. I guess they pay the same as can bump the price up slightly. Also saying it gets such great milage compared to the kid optima (17mpg observed) would make people pick them over other company's. If they ordered even 10k nationwide which I'm sure it's more. That would drive the wait time up there a lot

Also just noticed that the fusion itself went from 12-14 to 14-16 weeks in non hybrid form. Maybe with them doubling the MKZ production this also effected it as MKZ's get bumped ahead of the fusions

Ford still has only a 30 day inventory, they cant make them fast enough. Unlike Camry with a 450K a year production line. Since all Fusion and MKZ models share the same line, not surprised at all that its taking longer to deliver. SHould help once the new plant is in full swing.

The new plant is still just mainly doing "S" models. All the rest are coming from mexico still. I guess having such a basic model locally though and alot of people will buy them (as I see locally they sell 3x quicker than the SE) any sale is a good sale at this point. Hopefully such good sales lets them want to keep development on the up and up and we get some major breakthrus. I would trade my MKZ in on another in 2-3 years if they did a big enough change.

I ordered my car September 3rd. Manufacturer acknowledged on the 9th. I still don't have a VIN. Things certainly seem to be moving very slowly.
