Soo Yeun Yi Report post Posted October 4, 2013 I was wondering if anyone knew how much the price would drop if I were to buy it at the end of November or in January, compared to if I were to go buy one today.
hybridbear Report post Posted October 4, 2013 Depends on Ford and a lot of factors. Have you used the research tools of KBB or Edmunds to look up what a fair purchase price is? I believe that both sites will offer a prediction of what will happen with future prices. Ford may also offer more or less incentives in the future compared to now. When we bought our 2013 back in December 2012 there were minimal incentives. If we had waited another 5-6 months we could have saved about $1000 in additional Ford incentives. When my parents bought their C-Max Energi in June they had few incentives. If they had waited another month or two they could have had an additional $2000 in incentives. It's all a matter of timing. Sometimes you come out ahead on timing and sometimes you lose. I was wondering if anyone knew how much the price would drop if I were to buy it at the end of November or in January, compared to if I were to go buy one today. 1 GrySql reacted to this
jeff_h Report post Posted October 4, 2013 I checked incentives on the Ford web site yesterday, and the rebates listed for my area were good until Jan 2nd, I expect the timing is probably similar in other places. So you can buy now or wait to see what changes will occur after Jan 2, that would likely depend on the sales numbers over the past couple months and current inventory levels, etc. 2 GrySql and hybridbear reacted to this
Soo Yeun Yi Report post Posted October 5, 2013 I actually found a 2013 hyti with the same options and the msrp is 37,715. How much should I try to lower the price to?
hybridbear Report post Posted October 5, 2013 I actually found a 2013 hyti with the same options and the msrp is 37,715. How much should I try to lower the price to?At or below invoice is a good place to start negotiations. Use the tools mentioned above from KBB or Edmunds to get a better feel for your area. Don't know about your region or exact options, but here I priced out a fully loaded HyTi and the KBB Fair Purchase Price was about $500 above invoice. There are quite a few Ford incentives out there right now on 2013s that are likely not available on 2014s. I would buy the 2013. Just be sure that in your negotiations the dealer isn't deceiving you by talking about monthly payments or the price after the Ford incentives.
Eddie Sessum Report post Posted October 5, 2013 Sending you a PM in a minute on how to get the best price. If I post it public and ford finds it they may change there rules and mess it up.
sscott540 Report post Posted October 6, 2013 I actually found a 2013 hyti with the same options and the msrp is 37,715. How much should I try to lower the price to? I was able to get $2500 off from the retail price and also got $1000 rebate and $1000 competitive lease rebate (as I had a 2013 honda accord I leased for my wife in March). In addition I got above KBB on trade for my SUV. I used KBB and Truecar to find out the actual invoice cost. They also have holdback rebates they get also but this is a general idea of what can be done. If you are buying outright without trading should be able to get $3000-3500 off from MSRP.
