Da0ne Report post Posted September 18, 2013 so i was waiting for a parking spot and it was cool outside so i turned the car off and when the spot opened up i turned the car back on and this came out instead of my compass I have a base SE with only reverse sensors. Does this mean i can buy a MFT and add it since that and fog lights are the only things i wish i had
acdii Report post Posted September 18, 2013 Most likely not. There is much more behind MFT than just the screen, but it does seem funny to have that message pop up on a car without a touch screen. Talk about a Well DUH moment.

John M Young Report post Posted September 20, 2013 If you have the 8" screen with the four corners this should work. The story was in PC Magazine. “Navigation Capabilities on All MyFord Touch Cars - But It Ships DisabledFord explains: When you take delivery of a Ford with MyFord Touch or Lincoln with MyLincoln Touch, you get a vehicle with an 8-inch touchscreen and you also get the navigation application embedded in the car. But it's no good without the navigation SD card, for which you pay $795, and then Ford activates the car and enables navigation. That apparently means you can choose to have factory onboard navigation the day you take delivery. Or, later on, you can choose between factory navigation or a third-party portable GPS system that will be clunky, take up space on the windshield, and cost half what Ford charges.” I think the upgrade is done by installing the Navigation App: Navigation/16777215 and inserting the SD card. Charge is 795.00.I have been looking for a dealer to do this for me but so far they don't seem to know about it. If you get any more info on it please PM me or post in the forum. I will do the same. There's one more important piece you need - the "magic unlocker". installing the nav app alone won't make it work, it requires a special unlocking program that ties the nav to the VIN of the vehicle. No Ford dealer has access to this unlocker, so you are out of luck for now. As to the OP, you're also out of luck. The software in the cluster is basically the same whether you have the touchscreen or not, it just has different configurations turned on or off at the factory. You've obviously found a bug that somehow bypasses the configuration status and displays a default error message.
