Does anyone know if this car has a built in antenna booster?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know if this car has a built in antenna booster? I hooked up a new Pioneer head unit and the AM reception is non-existent. Crutchfield indicated that sometime cars with a window antenna have boosters. I have looked on my service manual DVD and I see a wire for antenna power (12v switched) and it goes to an antenna module. Anyone know for sure?

Bit late, but for the benefit of others who Google this out, the answer as far as I could determine is NO.

I just installed a JVC KD-HDR1 deck and that was the first thing I noticed. AM went south. However, I found and installed this antenna. Locking HD on AM stations is a happy thing!

The Fusion does indeed have an antenna booster. the power wire for it is pin#5 on the main radio harness (violet/black)

Fanatic is right. That's why the AM went south. I f yo don't connect wire #5 it doesn't switch on the booster.

Connect wire #5 where? I just installed a Pioneer HU and have the same problem. Everything works great, except AM reception. Does this have to be spliced into the 12V power line?
