zippo Report post Posted August 20, 2013 After 9 long months of research and contemplation, I finally pulled the trigger on a Ruby Red 2013 FF HiTi. I test drove the car I wanted about a 2 weeks ago in Raleigh, but due to late work hrs, I was unable to go in until last Sat...and the vehicle sold on Friday night :( After searching thru every Ford dealership in NC till 3am online, I finally found a red Titanium up in Peterburg VA, so grabbed my 9 month pregnant wife and we drove a couple of hrs up to buy it. We also own a 2007 Prius, so I'm pretty familiar with hybrids. First impressions: Likes- I love the adaptive cruise control, lane keeping and BLIS. Amazing functions, and eco cruise is so much better than the Prius. - Keyless entry is great although the key fob seems a little cheap and plasticy. Mine is brand new and already scratched up before I put it in my pocket. I do like how you can open or lock the car from all 4 doors, unlike my prius. - It handles much better, more like a sports sedan and gives a good feel for the road. The Prius had zero feel, and the brakes/steering you never know what you are going to get. Switching from ICE to Ev is so seamless and instant, much better than the Prius which would only really let you control it if you were between 35-41MPH. - While I wish the Titanium had an optional Dune leather package, the seats are great, love that the headrest actually moves forward and I can lean back and not feel like I'm looking up at the ceiling. Interior, and center console setup are light years ahead of the prius, and I feel like I'm in a true luxury car. - And of course the exterior looks so amazing, and truly is the first thing that attracted me to this car. Wishes- Why can't I view a digital readout of instantaneous MPG? Avg MPG is fine, but the bar graph, I have to guess +/- 10 MPG from the readout. I feel like I have a better understanding and more control when I can see the actual MPG, as I have on the Prius - I'd also like to be able to reference my trip meter without having to push 5 buttons...why can't we scroll from ODO to trip mileage and have it permanently up? Just about every other car I've driven you can. - The leaves are worthless...it would be really nice if I could put MyView up on the right side and display things I think are important. I do like the Empower settings and being able to see when the motor will kick on. - I wish there was a little more play between battery discharge and regen on the gas pedal so that you could coast with the engine completely off. I can only manage to keep the arrows off the screen for 2 seconds. That was the nice part about the Prius. And I think the screen showing energy flow is much better designed in the Prius. Ford's is nearly unreadable, the colors don't change. Driving with that screen up in the Prius and Pulse and Gliding I would easily get 60-70 MPG. All in all I love my new car, and my wife is happy she doesn't have to drive me to work anymore. Got 51MPG on my first trip to work, so real happy about the mileage too. Even if it got 30MPG, I think I'd still be smiling! 6 B25Nut, djminfll, kuzzi and 3 others reacted to this

I agree with both your wishes above and almost all of us on here would likely concur with you. On the issue of leaves however, those of us who are reading and participating in this Forum are not Ford's general audience for the FFH. By and large most owners like the leaves or prefer to display audio information or nav info on that screen. Those of us who use this site are way more likely than the general population to be interested in data and want to have multiple My View screens or have car data on the right screen. I hope in a future update (like the recent PCM upgrade) that Ford will allow us to put car data on the right screen if it's possible. Seems like the biggest repeating concept I see on Ford Social is the inclusion of AppLink on systems with MyFord Touch. I would very much like for that to happen. 1 corncobs reacted to this
zippo Report post Posted August 21, 2013 Thanks for the replies. My wife is due in 3 days, will be our first. Pretty excited. I will put those requests up on the Ford Social. I absolutely love my job, but driving my new FFH is what I most look forward too these days...that and a new baby. Got 53.1 mpg to work, but with the A/C off, and 49.7 on way home. I almost wish my commute was longer (about 10 mi). I'm really learning a lot on this forum. 2 corncobs and FusionRose reacted to this
Aquineas Report post Posted August 21, 2013 (edited) Gratz bro! May the both your babies (newborn and car) be completely healthy!! Oh and btw, I completely agree with you about the uselessness of the leaves and the desire for a digital display for instant MPG. Cheers! acdii Report post Posted August 22, 2013 Funny scenario for certain. When my wife was due with our son, she thought she was in labor, but wasn't. Doc said, go walk around for a while. I had no idea what a PPP(still cant say it) was, so we went to look at them, and we bought a 2007 silver base model. My son was born the next day. Here you are 6 years later, own a 2007, and got a 2013 Fusion with a wife about to give birth! :)
zippo Report post Posted August 23, 2013 We have a silver base model too! Due date is tomorrow, but the doc visit today said its going to be a while...I'm betting 10 days late, guess I have one more week of freedom before my new car smell turns into a new baby smell :fan: :rip: 3 acdii, djminfll and Aquineas reacted to this
acdii Report post Posted August 25, 2013 My son was a late baby too. My wife was pissed at the cows because they were having their babies before she was!
