rvlasek Report post Posted August 4, 2013 I actually noticed have noticed a drop in short trip MPG performance after TSB 13B07 - POWERTRAIN CONTROL MODULE (PCM) CALIBRATION was applied. Anyone else notice this???
jeff_h Report post Posted August 4, 2013 Not for me on short trip... a couple samples from yesterday, but admittedly just a couple samples thus far. Changed oil yesterday morning so drove to county dropoff (6.6 miles) to drop the oil. Normal results for past trips is about 59-61 (each way has some good hills to anticipate for EV/regen), yesterday was 64.6, so that's about an 8% increase. Then went to Walmart yesterday afternoon (3.3 miles, too short?), in the past I would normally get about 58-62 on the way there and 51-53 on the way back, difference due to better terrain/hills on the way there. Yesterday's trip was 70.2 on the way there and 59.9 on the way back, so that's about a 10% increase... The above are just short trips where I think just stopping and restarting a couple times may make a big difference when compared to past trips, so I don't get too hung up on them. I have a long commute and curious as those results when I now set the cruise at a higher speed. 4 corncobs, Fastronaut, hybridbear and 1 other reacted to this
hermans Report post Posted August 4, 2013 (edited) My wife drove the FFH this past week since the PCM update. Her trip is just over 4 miles and she saw a slight increase. She said the EV did come on faster before the car got to the normal operating temperature and she kicked it up to 75 mph on the short span of freeway she drives and was able to get it into EV mode. The MKZh goes in Tuesday for the update. Edited August 4, 2013 by hermans
Sleddog Report post Posted August 4, 2013 With the short time I've had the car, I've noticed an increase since the update.
jeff_h Report post Posted August 5, 2013 Quick update today, another local run as I am teleworking today. Had to run across town, 7.7 miles each way, took different routes to avoid the big uphill on the way there yet take advantage of the big downhill on the way back. Going there - 55.5 MPG; coming back 75.8 MPG (told ya the downhill is a nice one). So with a few days of nothing but puttering around in town, tank thus far is 135 miles @ 58.7 MPG (though actual fills are normally almost 2 MPG less, unless it's the gas station that's ripping me off). I don't expect much difference on the long commutes to/from work, other than setting the cruise at 67-70 instead of 62 going up and down the highway. If it turns out that setting the cruise at 70 will be just as good then that's there it will stay, but if not I will sample a bit to find the best cruise speed for my liking. 2 Fastronaut and Da0ne reacted to this
