FusionRose Report post Posted July 31, 2013 :banghead: So a stupid truck didn't want to stay in his lane and the other side of me was traffic barrels. I hate US -19 and its never ending construction. Anyways the passenger side mirror got whacked by a cone. There is so marks on the car but it seem that there is no permanent scratches. It cracked the mirror and but a small scratch on the metal strip below the window. After I clean up the car I will take it by the dealer this afternoon to have it fixed. jeff_h Report post Posted July 31, 2013 You are luck you didn't get a citation for hitting the Florida state tree. Hermans I think you will agree, that official state tree designation was claimed by PA long ago.
hermans Report post Posted July 31, 2013 I think every State has claimed it. It's a stupid, ugly tree. 4 hybridbear, jeff_h, corncobs and 1 other reacted to this
FusionRose Report post Posted July 31, 2013 I have an appointment for the update on Friday, I wonder if they will be able to do everything today or if the have to order the part. I was trying to figure out an estimate on the part cost but there seems to be 9 different versions with a price range of $90 - $300.
djminfll Report post Posted July 31, 2013 Sorry to hear of your little mishap, at least you weren't hurt! Did you get the license plate of the truck that caused this? Did you both stop and exchange info?Since your photo shows that you have that convex (concave?) inset mirror, I assume you don't have BLIS - I'm sure that will save you a lot of money in the replacement! hermans Report post Posted July 31, 2013 I see you have the cheater mirror.

Of course not. The truck probably didn't even notice that I hit the barrel. Yep no BLIS, I order my baby so she didn't have a bunch of stuff on it. jeff_h Report post Posted July 31, 2013 cheater mirror? what does that mean? I should have whatever come standard on the SE.He means the little corner mirror, that comes with the ones who do not have BLIS. I had BLIS on the 2010 and the 'cheater' mirror on the 2013, I like the 'cheater' one better. 2 FusionRose and hybridbear reacted to this

I did a quick search and at mirrorglassplus.com it looks like the mirror glass is around $25. I might need to search in more detail for a heated version but I smacked my wife's Explorer mirror a while back and it took 15 min to replace. 1 djminfll reacted to this
FusionRose Report post Posted July 31, 2013 It seems pretty easy to pop in as we had to do that because it did pop out. I just don't know which part it is, I am totally lost when it comes to cars for the most part.

I checked NAPA but they don't have it in their only store yet. Even you dealer should be able to just the glass it might be a bit more than 3rd party. Sleddog Report post Posted July 31, 2013 I've been lucky and haven't had to go south of Palm Bay in a while. I worked in Delray Beach during all the expansion of I-95. That was a real horror show!
MaineFusion Report post Posted August 3, 2013 Sorry about the mirror. On the bright side since you don't have BLIS, even if you have to replace the whole assembly it won't be as expensive as it could have been. About nine months ago (before I got my FFH), a truck in front of me clipped one of those big orange construction barrels and sent it spinning into my path of travel. There was a car beside me and a car right behind me so I couldn't do anything to avoid the barrel. I was doing around 55mph at the time and smacked it square on. Fortunately the truck didn't send it airborne so my bumper to the brunt of it. Had it Pulled off at the next service plaza to inspect the damage, thought for sure either I had lost a headlight or busted up the grill, but only suffered a minor crack on the cowling below the bumper and some minor road rash on the bumper itself. Had the barrel gone airborne or had I caught it somewhere other than my front bumper it could have done quite a bit of body damage to the car. I'm just glad my wife wasn't in the car at the time, she would have freaked out. It wasn't really the truck's fault because the barrel had been left where it shouldn't have been by a construction worker.
