storksb Report post Posted August 4, 2013 Just logged into sync my ride and a new update is available for download 3.6.2 Going to find my thumb drive and update this afternoon This is the text from the update The latest SYNC® update includes all of the improvements from previous updates, plus additional benefits, such as:Information display on the homescreen for HD, Sirius (if equipped), and FM radio sourcesSimplified graphics and improved usabilityEnhanced voice destination entry for SD Card Navigation (if equipped)Improved Navigation vehicle positioning (if equipped)Rear view camera guidelines set to ON by default (if equipped)Updated SYNC/device compatibility informationThe installation of this update will take up to 30 minutes to complete. Be sure to keep your engine running, not in accessory mode, throughout the entire installation process. Turning off your vehicle during the update installation will disrupt the process. Although your vehicle must be in park when you begin the installation process, you may drive your vehicle while the update is downloading to your SYNC system. If your vehicle is equipped with the Intelligent Access with Push Button Start feature, you will need to temporarily disable the Automatic Engine Idle Shutdown (AEIS) component before beginning the installation in order to prevent your vehicle from timing out and shutting off the engine before the software update is complete. To disable this feature, use your steering wheel controls to navigate to the Settings menu on your left-hand Instrument Cluster LCD display. From there, select Vehicle >Auto Engine Off >Off. (If you do not see this setting, there is no need to make any changes before starting the update.) Alternatively, after initiating the installation, you may drive the vehicle during the update process to avoid the engine shutting off. The AEIS will automatically reset to "On" the next time you start your vehicle. Please note: During the update installation, SYNC will temporarily appear to not recognize your mobile phone or media device. This is normal. When your system has been successfully updated, SYNC will display a notification saying, "Installation complete." 3 srogers, jeff_h and 1551retired reacted to this
storksb Report post Posted August 4, 2013 Just completed update, I let it install while I washed the car, took about 25 minutes and went off without a hitch. Just need to re-pair my phones and I'll be all set. Hope to find out what has been improved and fixed on my commute tomorrow.
Sleddog Report post Posted August 4, 2013 (edited) If you have the SD nav system, you will need a new SD card for the nav to work after doing the update! I'm on hold right now with them to order one. The website has a link to have one sent to you, but it takes you to the update confirmation page with no way to input information for them to send it. I'm not doing the update until I have a new SD card in hand. UPDATE: I spoke to the support folks and was advised a new SD card is NOT needed if you have a A4 SD version. I've got it on a USB drive and I'm gonna go install it now. We'll see what happens... Edited August 4, 2013 by Sleddog
corncobs Report post Posted August 4, 2013 Update installed as well. You have to reset a couple things like "Text to speech" and the background pics are all gone. One change I noticed is when you press the voice command button a pop up window appears that shows a few options what you can say. Another difference I notice is a simpler graphic for the rear camera options and I don't think you can disable the active guidelines any more but I not sure if you ever could. Anyway updated successfully installed!
Sleddog Report post Posted August 4, 2013 (edited) Update complete. Successfully installed. Nav works with no issues. Although during the update the radio came on and could not be turned off. The passenger side mirror no long does self dim. The rearview and the driver's side works fine. May just be a glitch. We'll see. Paired phone (sounds better than repaired phone!). Sync works. Gonna put my pictures back on it now. Edited August 4, 2013 by Sleddog
hermans Report post Posted August 4, 2013 The 2013 Fusions don't have passenger side mirrors that dim. Only the driver's side and rear view mirror do. The have a coating - the passenger side does not. 2 Sleddog and corncobs reacted to this

hermans Report post Posted August 4, 2013 I thought I was missing something. I remember reading in the OM, the passenger mirror wasn't coated. I think it's because "objects are closer than they appear."
mrobinso8 Report post Posted August 4, 2013 I just did the update with no problem. 25 minutes of Microsoft restarting. Think a new a4 is needed if you want prettier graphics and hopefully newer maps. Going in tomorrow for the 13B07 update for mileage and will ask about the card, assuming they know anything about the update. Lost pairing of phone and screen wallpaper. Not worried about phone as the update tomorrow is supposed to kill pairings. 1 Terps reacted to this
Sleddog Report post Posted August 4, 2013 No new map releases per Sync support. But let us know. It wouldn't be the first time support did not have all the info. Hermans, right again. The OM says the drivers side only
jeff_h Report post Posted August 4, 2013 (edited) Here is a tip - do not disconnect USB while updating. I did, but not intentionally. Update was in progress, and apparently the USB in the drive maybe didn't have a good contact once it got going, so then I got a black screen with "Updating Image" on the top, and "Waiting on USB Storage Device" on the bottom (I took pic of this but it's really blurry). It sat like that for about 15-20 seconds, then said something like "no USB storage device found, abandoning update". Once I started the update I never touched the USB, I had the center console top closed and was sitting still in the garage. This first session was 50 minutes, longer than the ones noted already on this thread, so I figured maybe that earlier "waiting on USB" message was one of those quirky popups that appear as part of the process, but now I figure well it's been too long. So then I turned off car and back on, MFT screen was black and on right side of dash display (where I normally have 'entertainment' showing station/artist/song) said 'Audio Off"... and pressing the volume button to power it back on did nothing. Oh crap. Turned off car again and back on, same thing. Oh crap, now it's hung up in limbo! But then I remembered the delayed reboot app that neod192 posted about, and how part of the process was turning off the car and opening/shutting the door. So I stopped, opened/shut door, then started again, and audio came back on. So then MFT came back on, but it wasn't pretty. There was no 'i' for info tab, clicking the hybrid leaves tab brought up settings (none of those buttons did anything), clicking top right corner for navigation brought me to the screen to pair a phone. Basically it was all jacked up. So I figured well I will start again and hope it begins the process again and overwrites those config settings. So I shut down, removed key, opened/shut door, removed USB, and started ignition again and inserted USB again, and the app started again. This time it went through the process properly and updated things without a hitch. So thankfully things turned out well, one down and now out to update her car. jeff_h Report post Posted August 5, 2013 (edited) How big is this update? Download is taking forever... plus had to restart the download due to failure. Grrrrr! Total files on my USB about 550MB - download started and stuck on 5% for a long time... then stuck on 38% for a couple minutes, then once past that the rest was a bit quicker. SteveB_TX Report post Posted August 5, 2013 Why do you have to wait till tomorrow? Are you watching the Dallas Cowboys ;-) It's near bedtime for this old dude. I may not get the thing installed until late tomorrow either. Our new countertops are being installed tomorrow, so depending on how long they take, I gotta hang around the kitchen with the workers. Can't be playing in the Z. :) 1 corncobs reacted to this

JimArch Report post Posted August 5, 2013 (edited) My update went just fine. The only thing that hung me up was that when you "repair" your phone, you need to forget the previous SYNC from your Bluetooth list (in your phone), and pair with a new entry the car produces. My entire update took about 25 minutes. Good luck everyone! One more thing, after the update I needed to adjust the clock to the correct time, it was one hour slow. corncobs Report post Posted August 5, 2013 Good point about " forgetting " the previous SYNC BT connection took me 5 min extra as well.

jsolan Report post Posted August 5, 2013 Does the dealer need to do this if you have NAV? Do dealer's normally charge for this work?I'm dropping my car off wednesday for the PCM update and will ask them to do the sync update too if there's no charge or I NEED a dealer to do the NAV card. acdii Report post Posted August 5, 2013 Only if you have the A3 card for the Nav. If you currently are on 3.5.1 you already have the A4 card, and can do it yourself. 1 jeff_h reacted to this
