hybridbear Report post Posted May 16, 2013 I wanted to create a thread for us to enhance our user experience at the forum. There are some things I have seen others do that I want to learn how to do as well, I imagine others have felt the same. This thread has been created for the purpose of allowing us to share tricks and tips about our user experience here,
acdii Report post Posted May 16, 2013 Posting pics, instead of uploading to the forum, if you have a facebook account, post a picture there, you can post it as just for you, then click on the photo, when it comes up right click and copy image URL, Then here, click the image icon and paste the URL. All done.
hybridbear Report post Posted May 16, 2013 I'll start us off with a couple of questions that I hope someone can answer I've seen some of you, GrySql most recently that I can remember, post links in your posts to other users profiles or to other pages where it doesn't show up as an abbreviated URL but as words in your sentence that are underlined. How do you do that? Others have posted pictures that show up quite large in their posts, this is convenient as other readers don't have to click on the picture to see it full size. How do you do this? I have been mostly uploading pics to my gallery and then linking to that. This mainly would be of use in the MPG Happy Talk thread where I don't need to fill my gallery up with pics of my trip mileage My gallery is not filled up with pics of my trip mileage (see #2) where it tells me I cannot upload more pictures. If I delete pics from my gallery that I have linked to other posts what will happen to those posts? Will it even allow me to delete those pics? Can I create multiple galleries? There is an option to select which gallery I want to upload items to which seems to indicate that it is possible to have multiple galleries but I can't find how to create another. Does anyone else know a possible solution? Thanks!

neod192 Report post Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) See my responses in red. I'll start us off with a couple of questions that I hope someone can answer I've seen some of you, GrySql most recently that I can remember, post links in your posts to other users profiles or to other pages where it doesn't show up as an abbreviated URL but as words in your sentence that are underlined. How do you do that? When you post, highlight the word you want to make clickable and click on the chain link with a small green plus sign to add the hyperlink. Paste the URL there. 2. Others have posted pictures that show up quite large in their posts, this is convenient as other readers don't have to click on the picture to see it full size. How do you do this? I have been mostly uploading pics to my gallery and then linking to that. This mainly would be of use in the MPG Happy Talk thread where I don't need to fill my gallery up with pics of my trip mileage I use Google+ to host my pics. My Android phone will automatically upload the pics to a private profile in G+. When I post, I click the image button and paste the URL to that pic from G+. This is a similar idea to acdii's FB idea, but I like it better bc of the instant upload from the phone. 3. My gallery is not filled up with pics of my trip mileage (see #2) where it tells me I cannot upload more pictures. If I delete pics from my gallery that I have linked to other posts what will happen to those posts? Will it even allow me to delete those pics? You can delete the picture from the gallery, but it'll remove it form the post. It'll make the post look weird bc the pic will be missing. 4. Can I create multiple galleries? There is an option to select which gallery I want to upload items to which seems to indicate that it is possible to have multiple galleries but I can't find how to create another. Does anyone else know a possible solution? It doesn't look like you can create a new album ... Thanks! neod192 Report post Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) Hint: If you want to link to a specific post click the little share icon next to the post # to get the URL specific to that post. Like this.Hint: You can make your Fuelly signature a hyperlink to your profile or just a picture. Edited May 16, 2013 by neod192

Like this.Hint: You can make your Fuelly signature a hyperlink to your profile or just a picture. Thanks! I knew about the post sharing and have used that before. I also recently updated my Fuelly signature to be a hyperlink. I had temporarily changed it to the small Fuelly badge because I saw that you could make that one a hyperlink and then I discovered that the large Fuelly badge can be a hyperlink too! corncobs Report post Posted May 16, 2013 Da0ne suggest photobucket for hosting pictures; I have been doing that ever since. I mostly use my phone to post here and the photobucket app makes it really simple to upload a pic click the pic and copy the IMG link and paste it into the post; done. That's probably also why my pics are so big in the posts because they are not scaled or size reduced just directly from the iPhone gallery.

hybridbear Report post Posted May 16, 2013 Links worked, but he wants to embed the picture into the post so that we don't have to click it to see it.Exactly. I'm trying to install Google+ app on my iPhone now. Nice thing with DropBox is that I can upload to my DropBox from my iPhone very easily. I'm going to see if Google+ can do that too since I already have a Google+ account. If not then I guess I'll try PhotoBucket

hybridbear Report post Posted May 16, 2013 (edited) PhotoBucket worked - but doesn't the iPhone have instant upload of the pics to the cloud somewhere? It can do iCloud but I don't use that. I want to have a way to upload photos taken both by the iPhone and possibly via the digital camera too from the computer. I think I'll use Photobucket now for trip MPG pics and keep my gallery to just car photos. I just went and deleted all my trip MPG pics from my gallery which means all those posts will not work anymore...oh well. It's a learning curve. Now I can start over again accumulating new MPG pics to post here. It's crazy how we've gotten spoiled by the warm weather and city driving. I'm now very disappointed if I have a city trip below 60 MPG lol Edited May 16, 2013 by hybridbear
