BondMan007 Report post Posted March 1, 2013 (edited) Does anyone know how to install the trunk cargo net? Apparently there are hidden hooks mounted to the back of the tail lights behind the carpeting. And if those are where you are supposed to mount the top of the cargo net, what are those two other screws with a plastic cap on them on either side of the trunk used for? My cargo net didn't come with any instructions or hardware other than the net itself. Edited March 1, 2013 by BondMan007
neod192 Report post Posted March 1, 2013 (edited) Can't answer your question, but I have a question for you! Did you order it with the car or after the car arrived? Acdii mentioned at some point that if you order it with the car, the hooks needed to install it come installed, but if you don't order it with the car, you have to also order some hooks? acdii Report post Posted March 2, 2013 Mine came with the net, on the sticker at least, they forgot to include it with the car and left the hooks off too. Part number for the hooks W716357-S900 package of 4 Do you have any installed or all 4 missing?
BondMan007 Report post Posted March 2, 2013 I ordered the net with the car and the net itself was laying in the trunk in a plastic bag when I picked up the car. The bottom "bolts" I'll call them were already in the car. They are basically a plastic screw with a large plastic flat head where the bottom loops of the net attach over them securely. On the top, there are two screws an either side of the trunk opening with these strange tapered plastic threaded caps. The upper loops of the net slip right off when attached. I also tried playing the net loops under the plastic cap but then the cap just pops right off. I called my salesman yesterday and he said most people don't bother installing the net so he didn't think to mention it. (Did he even realize that I purposefuly ordered the net with the car?). He said to come by today and between the two of us, we'd figure it out. I was trying to avoid that hassle so I thought I'd ask you guys.
Fastronaut Report post Posted March 2, 2013 Thanks for the heads up. I ordered the net with the car, so I'll be checking this at delivery.
acdii Report post Posted March 2, 2013 If the dealer cant get their act together, I have 2 left overs, they come 4 in a pack. The dealer should just order that part number I listed above and be done with it. Doesnt take rocket science! :)
Toz Report post Posted March 4, 2013 I skipped the net because I thought that the battery hump would keep stuff from slipping too far foward. Is it a worth while add on?
neod192 Report post Posted March 4, 2013 I skipped the net because I thought that the battery hump would keep stuff from slipping too far foward. Is it a worth while add on?I was thinking the same thing! Put 3-4 grocery bags in there and there' nowhere for them to slide to :) Now that I think about it, if we put anything on top of the battery, they'll slide down to the lower level and squish anything in there! acdii Report post Posted March 4, 2013 I use it a lot. If I have a small bag or two, just stick them in there and not worry about the stuff bouncing around.

Does the car have any hooks you can tie the bags to - instead of using the net. My Gti has 2 hooks on the rear seats and one on top, so I can just hook my bags to those and they'd stay in place. acdii Report post Posted March 4, 2013 I havent noticed any, the 10 has what you are talking about, but is also a deeper trunk. The 13 is shallow, not much room between the threshold and floor.
Stangman Report post Posted April 18, 2013 I took delivery of my Titanium hybrid last week and also could not figure out how to attach the cargo net (which I had ordered as an option when spec'ing the car). The dealer looked at three other hybrids in stock and they were all exactly like mine - 2 small rods for attaching the cargo net at the top unlike the two at the bottom which both had retainers on them. They made a few phone calls and told me that they had ordered parts and would call me when they came in. This certainly looks like a factory issue of not installing them. Anyhow, that is the only negative I have discovered thus far. My overall mileage is 35.2 as of my first fill up yesterday. It is gradually increasing and I do seem to be getting readouts in the 40's when the car is shut off after short in town trips. The motor seems on more to warm up the cold engine than anything else (as a result, when Spring finally arrives in Michigan, hopefully that will help the mileage) 1 neod192 reacted to this
fusionTX Report post Posted April 18, 2013 My net was also packed up in the trunk of the car uninstalled, where it remains today.
acdii Report post Posted April 18, 2013 You would think even after the bulletin was sent out regarding the missing cargo nets, that they would have at least put the darn hooks in the car when they built it! 1 Fastronaut reacted to this
Riggo Report post Posted April 18, 2013 Uh oh. I also purchased the cargo net. I guess I need to be on the lookout when I pick the car up.
RedLdr1 Report post Posted April 19, 2013 My dealer has ordered two cargo nets so far using the Part Number (DS7Z-54550A66-B) shown on the Ford Accessory website and neither came with hooks even though the description says they are included if required. The parts breakdown for the FFH does not list any hooks for the top two connections where the "rod" protrudes out of the liner. The Parts Manager has escalated this up the Ford food chain so hopefully I'll have an update soon, I'll post what I find out as soon as I hear something. 1 Fastronaut reacted to this

smr2112 Report post Posted April 24, 2013 I ordered a cargo net online for the 2013 FFH and found out it was back ordered.Guy says "apparently the hybrids use a slightly different cargo net and thesecan be a little bit hard to come by..." huh, that can't be right, is it? Only eversaw one part number. And added the set of those 4 wingnuts for $4.60. From partscheap.com thatI have used before. Very good prices and responsive. Has anybody applied the bumper protector for the Fusion? Anxious to geta coat of Blackfire on the car this weekend and wonder if that will causeany problems with the bumper protector. If you've never heard of this stuff, it is *very* easy to use and protects thepaint like mad. My 4 y/o FFH still had water bead up and looked like new. http://www.autogeek.net/blackfire-wet-diamond-sealant.html I know this isn't the detail forum, but still highly recommended. 1 acdii reacted to this

smr2112 Report post Posted May 2, 2013 Turns out that back ordered Hybrid specific part is the Cargo Mat, not the Net - I gotthat, but did not install yet. Also received the washer knobs. Seems like top 2 of them willreplace the plastic screw cover caps on the upper screw posts and the cargo net loops will justgo around. Bottom already has these "knobs". I actually found the cargo net from my 2010 FFH that I never could get installed, butfit it in the 2013 for now. Seems a bit big and I used the knobs I had for it and theyworked. I will try the "real" cargo net install this weekend. Curious if it is truly different thatthe one for the 2010. If anybody is interested in a bunch of stuff for a 2010 FFH (which I refused to giveto the dealer with my trade), let me know and I'll send it to you for just theshipping costs - custom gray cat mats, Weathertech mats, old cargo net, oil filters...Send me a message. fusionTX Report post Posted May 7, 2013 Today I tried installing my trunk cargo net and ran into the same issues as everyone else. The top screws that are currently installed in the trunk must be the wrong thing. The bottom ones seem fine. Picked up my license plates tonight and showed my salesperson the issue and gave her the part number acdii posted.Hopefully, that will take care of issue.
