There have been numerous issues with iPhones and SYNC working perfectly together. I have an iPhone 4 and for the most part it works pretty well with SYNC (after the latest iOS update). The thing that has always been an issue is the auto play with bluetooth and then trying to get it to work with USB. Things kind of get confused going back and forth. For instance, when I start the car it may try to play music via bluetooth. Then in order to make USB work, I have to go into iPod on the iPhone and make sure 'dock connector' is selected in order to hear the music via USB. I also had an issue when Apple released iOS 4.1 where some of my songs stuttered or skipped when played via USB. That seemed to impact a lot of other car stereos also. It did seem to get fixed in the latest iOS 4.2.1 release. By the way, this is with SYNC 3.1 and my 2010 Fusion.

For the good, bad, and ugly... you may want to take a look at the forums on www.syncmyride.com. You'll get a better idea of the problems people have had with the iPhone. Good luck.
