Synch muted?

Recommended Posts

Bought a used 2010 Milan.

The Synch prompts but then does not "hear" commands? I checked the manual and it didn't say anything about a mute, but it acts like the mic is turned off. Off to the dealership, or is there a way to check the mic?

Sorry I don't know all the details, but I'll try to help. On the 2010 Fusion, the mic is on the front side (as in, the front of the car, away from the driver, go figure) of the rearview mirror. Maybe check the wiring to the mirror or see if it's been replaced or something.

I've heard of an update or something that moves the mic over the driver in the headliner somewhere. Don't know if it became standard in later build versions.

Well, somewhere to start.... Good luck.

The SYNC voice prompts may have been turned off. Before you head to the dealer, try the troubleshooting tips on the syncmyride website. There's a wealth of useful information on the site.

How do I get SYNC to stop speaking to me?

Non-navigation radios

Hands-free: To turn off voice prompts, push the VOICE button on your steering wheel. You’ll hear a tone. SYNC will say, "Please say a command." Say, "System prompts off."

On your radio: Press the PHONE button until PHONE MENU appears, SYNC will immediately change to PHONE REDIAL.

Press the ARROWS until SYS SETTINGS displays.

Press OK. BT DEVICES will display.

Press the ARROWS until ADVANCED appears. Press OK.

PROMPTS displays. Press OK.

Press the ARROWS until PROMPTS OFF appears.

Press OK.

SET OFF will display.

Press the ARROWS to return, or use the other radio buttons to select other devices, the radio or CD player.

Some jackwagon had unplugged the wire from the back of the mirror.

Now I'm good to go. Thanks!
