Howie411 Report post Posted September 25, 2010 So I ran over to the Dry Cleaners and I pulled into a spot, put the car in park and ran inside (my g/f was still in the car so I didn't turn off the motor). Got back in the car like 5 minutes later, put the car in reserve and when I stepped on the pedal the car went forward. I thought I was going crazy, so I tried again, same thing. This time I put the car in park, then back to reverse and the same thing happened. At this point I turned off the car completely and restarted it and reverse worked. I don't even understand how this is possible. Anyone have this happen?
nessie Report post Posted October 3, 2010 (edited) Hi Had same thing happen about 6 month ago. When I reported it to Ford they were interested, but when I said I couldn't duplicate it they said come back when you can. The sequence of events was as follows:Car was locked in parking lotPressed panic alarm instead of trunk releaseOpened door with key and shut off alarm with key, Left key in ignition in OFF position.Opened trunk with dash button.Put items in trunk.Closed trunk and got in car.Started car, put selector in reverse and car tried to go forward.Shifted to all other positions and back to reverse with same results.Removed key and started over.Has been fine since then. After reading your post, I don't think the panic alarm has anything to do with the problem. It's a good thing to be forced to have your foot on the brake when shifting out of park! Edited October 3, 2010 by nessie
Howie411 Report post Posted October 3, 2010 Did you just report it to your dealer? I guess the more times they hear about it the better.

It's a good thing to be forced to have your foot on the brake when shifting out of park! So we're not alone - had the same problem parked in the garage and couldn't back out. Restarted by turning off and taking the key out, then restarting and it worked properly. So used tho this that we don't leave the car in park with the ignition on for any length of time. If I work out the steps to reproduce the fault I'll post it here and bring this pist to my dealer's attention.
lolder Report post Posted October 26, 2010 See other posts. You may not have turned the key far enough to get the "Green Car" icon. If it is not on, the car won't move.
rfruth Report post Posted October 26, 2010 (edited) Two times in the last year I flicked my key to the start position & let it return to the run position (whole process took maybe 1/3 of a second) then put the car in gear and got nothing, turned the key off then repeated but slower and away I went (now I let the car 'boot up' ((hold the key in the start position)) a bit longer & no problem but never have I shifted to R & got D (or vice versa) so we may be talking about two different things Edited October 26, 2010 by rfruth
