2010 Fusion headlights

Recommended Posts

3 weeks ago I traded my 2007 Camry for a 2010 Fusion se and I must say I really am very happy about the decision to do it but one thing I miss is the auto headlights. If I ever find a reasonable fix to add them I sure would think very hard. My question which I have not found an answer for is if you leave your headlights on will they be turned off and if the answer is yes how long after you leave the car? Also I have the standard switch with 3 settings (off, parking lights & headlights & also pull out for fog lights) but I see a little icon on the bottom left side of the dial & what is that? jim_joh

1) That is the fog lamp icon. The fog lamp indicator is on the upper left of the round switch dial.

Pages 56-57 of 2010 Fusion Owners' Guide (1st printing):

The fog lamp indicator light will illuminate when the fog lamps have been turned on. The fog lamps will not operate when the high beams are active.

2) Page 102:

Battery saver

The battery saver will shut off the interior lamps 30 minutes after the ignition has been turned to the 1 (off) position.

If the dome lamps were turned on using the panel dimmer control, the battery saver will shut them off 30 minutes after the ignition has been turned to the 1 (off) position.

If the courtesy lamps were turned on because one of the vehicle doors or the trunk was opened, the battery saver will shut off them off 10 minutes after the ignition has been turned to the 1 (off) position.

The battery saver will shut off the headlamps 10 minutes after the ignition has been turned to the 1 (off) position.

Thank you waffh. I was looking for the answer under lights rather than security. But I still don't know what the icon on the lower left side of the light dial. I assume the fog light indicater is in the center of the pull out. Just curious. jim_joh

And from another thread, if you just leave the parking lights on, they will not shut off. It is assumed this is a safety feature. You will eventually have a dead battery.

The fog light indicator is in the upper left hand side of the diar. The white indicator I am asking about does not light up and on page 56 of the manual the sketch of the "head light control does not show it but the" autolamp" does but mine does not have added autolight icon. jim_joh

Hi Jim. :D What you are describing (the icon on the bottom left of headlight switch dial area) is simply the fog-light icon. It is supposed to tell you that you need to pull the switch out to turn on the fog-lights. Of course, it is hard to draw a picture with an arrow pointing at the driver (to indicate "pull"), so the arrow points down. That fog-light icon does not light up.

While the Manual can be confusing, that icon has nothing to do with the "autolamp" feature. Only fog-lights. In fact, if you look on page 57, the Manual describes the fog-light operation and even shows the "pull arrow" for the description pointing down again.

Hope this clears up your confusion.

Good luck. :beerchug:

On my FFH, the Fog Light Indicator (upper left of the round headlamp switch) can't be seen when the fog lights are off, but does light up when the fog lights are on, but not very well. Can only see it in the dark and still not very well. Only wish that it were brighter. My FFH was built in April '09.

The fog lamp icon is on the lower left side of the round light switch.

The fog lamp indicator is on the upper left side of the round light switch (not in the center of the pull out). It can't be seen when fog lamps are off and barely can be seen (better at night) when fog lamps are on.

Hope that I am not confusing you.
