Thoughts on alternate set of tires and rims

Recommended Posts

I have a 2008 Fusion SE with the Sport Package. Just wondering if anyone had any thoughts as to what the best option would be to get a new set of tires and rims for the winter. Michigan roads are terrible and I don't want my pretty 18's to get ruined, or have to pay for a new one for that matter. I have heard about possibly a 16" rim that fits but wasn't sure if you could put a 16" rim on the car. If anyone has any thoughts, comments, concerns, or if anyone has done this to their vehicle, let me know! Thanks!

Hi lovemyfusion. :D With the properly sized tire, you can use a 16" (205/60-16) or 17" (225/50-17) wheel.

If it were me, I would prefer 17" wheels/tires.

Good luck. :beerchug:

My AWD Sport also came with 16" steel wheels & BFG Winter tires. I have no issues with them so far, other than they look pretty bland. But they were free, so I can live with it.

I'm just surprised that your Dealer gave you 16" snow tires & wheels when you have 18" on the car normally. I would have thought 17" for snows... Still nice of the dealer to consider snows at all but I guess thats more normal for Canada?

The package was an incentive from Ford of Canada in Ontario - free Winter tires, rims & TPMS with the purchase of any new Fusion, Escape or Focus. They probably figured that not many Sports would be purchase as compared to the other models. They probably only ordered one size wheel/tire combo to fit all Fusions sold.
