gumby06 Report post Posted November 11, 2009 I can't believe that Ford left this off the SEL! Has anyone seen or heard of how you can add this feature to the car? I hate re-adjusting the mirrors..
Waldo Report post Posted November 11, 2009 The MKZ has the feature, so you might be able to find a module from one of those. You'd have to scan the wiring diagrams to see if all the circuitry is there though.
xmech2k Report post Posted November 11, 2009 It would be great if plugging the module in would be all it takes, but I would think the seat itself would have to have position sensors in it for this feature to work right. Unless they were already in the servos or motors, I'm thinking new seats would be in order as well. Hopefully I'm wrong.
Waldo Report post Posted November 12, 2009 There are no position sensors, it just uses relative motion to figure out how far it's moved away from the memory setting. Looks like the DSM (Driver Seat Module) and DDM (Driver Door Module) both control parts of the memory settings. It may be possible just to reonfigure them, but they are on the CAN network, so you need the proper diagnostic tools and you may have to reconfigure the cluster as well, since it sends the DSM the transmission signal (so that the seats won't move when you're not in P). Of course you'd still need to wire in a memory button.
