ABQArmstrong Report post Posted August 21, 2021 We flat tow our 2020 Fusion Hybrid behind our motorhome. Following Ford's instructions we put the vehicle in "stay in neutral" mode. It tows fine but racks up miles on the odometer. Other Ford owners say their cars don't do this. I haven't found anyone who works for Ford that knows if this is normal or how to make it stop. Does anyone here know the answer? Thanks.
MeeLee Report post Posted August 22, 2021 (edited) Lift the front wheels, I presume? If not possible, try towing in reverse? Edited August 22, 2021 by MeeLee
ElectricFan69 Report post Posted August 22, 2021 (edited) Well, the miles racked up do represent accurate distance the chassis has traveled, even though there are components that haven't been in use. Thus the miles shown represent wear experienced for the wheels, tires, hubs, axles/CV joints and the transaxle, even though the ICE hasn't run during that time. In some ways it's the obverse of what certain ICE-only fleet vehicles (e.g. police vehicles) experience, where the miles logged are substantially below the hours spent 'idling'.
