Foghorn Report post Posted November 9, 2020 I just bought a 2020 Titanium PHEV (Energi). The window sticker says that I should be getting 29 miles on a full charge. The estimated range on the range information display never goes above 23. I have reset the trip data and it doesn't change.
murphy Report post Posted November 9, 2020 The range is a mathematical calculation. There is no known way to measure the energy in the battery. They track what goes in and what comes out and make a sophisticated guess. Heat or air conditioning will reduce the range. Cold weather will reduce the range. High speed will reduce the range. The number on the sticker is what the EPA standard test determines. In the real world you are unlikely to get the same number. The heater is a 5 kW resistance heater. Energy going to the heater is not available to move the car. Air drag increases with the square of the velocity. The faster you go the lower the distance will be. There is a separate forum for the Energi. There is loads of information available about the Energi. https://www.fordfusionenergiforum.com
