SEL change interior lighting (ambient)

Recommended Posts

Just wondering if my 2008 SEL has the ambient lighting.. it does have the theatre lights, is that the same thing?

I'd like to change the colors, maybe go for a blue. Can I just change the bulbs, put in the blue tinted ones?

Ambient lighting is an option. I believe it offers all 3 colors as installed.

It's a $295.00 option on 2008 SEL's and will be STD on 2009 SEL's. It gives you 7 color options and OFF setting.

I'm not sure what you mean by theatre lights...? But if you have the ambient lighting, you will have a little button near the gear shifter that you can use to change the colours. Blue's definitely one of the colours.

I've uploaded a couple of pics I must have saved to my hard drive a while back while I was still waiting for my car to arrive. You can see the switch to the left of the gear selector, and just in front of the e-brake handle. If you've got that button, you've got ambient lighting.

Cheers!

EDIT: the second picture also shows one of the ambient lighting lights in the driver's-side footwell.

if you don't have ambient lighting and you want to add it there is a kit available from ford accessories. Part Number: 8S4Z-13E700-AA runs about $240 according to the website ford-parts-direct.com i looked at the install instructions, looks fairly easy to install if your not scared to tap into wiring.
