ffh2017 Report post Posted June 14, 2019 (edited) Hi, I recently became the owner of a used Ford Fusion Hybrid 2017. I'm trying to calculate the amount of fuel used for a trip from the Trip Summary display but I'm not sure how exactly I need to do that. Here's where my confusion arises: In the attached picture, the total distance driven is 23.6 miles, out of which 7.9 miles used gas (23.6 total - 11.6EV miles - 4.1 regen miles). When I'm calculating number of gallons consumed for that trip, do I need to divide 23.6 / 71.2 = 0.33 gallons? Or 7.9 / 71.2 = 0.11 gallons? I guess the question boils down to whether the average fuel economy displayed somehow includes electric+regen miles or is it just gas miles? Thanks! Edit: Updated the numbers to match the picture. md13ffhguy Report post Posted June 14, 2019 Just like any car - MPG = (total)miles driven/gallons used. Calculating fuel use using such a small sample size can be very misleading. My guess is this was a one-way trip, with negative elevation change. Don't be surprised if your return trip is much different than that result. 1 mwr reacted to this
