Joh3n Report post Posted November 5, 2017 How do I remove the 12v battery? Mine is shot. I have a 2013 Fusin Energi SE. The battery is mounted in the trunk on the driver's side of the vehicle. I have removed the terminals from the posts, disconnected the strap and removed the lower retaining bolt. The question is how do I get the battery out of the car? murphy Report post Posted November 5, 2017 It can't be removed through the opening. The push pins and plastic nuts must be removed from the fiber shroud so the shroud can be folded out of the way. In addition to the strap around the battery there is a clamp bolt at the rear base of the battery. I also remove the piece at the bottom of the trunk opening to free up the edge of the shroud. It's held in place by snap clips and pulls straight up after the push pins are removed. If new push pins, shaped like a christmas tree, are needed they are available at Lowe's. lkatze2 Report post Posted November 12, 2017 I just changed my battery, and did exactly what Murphy said to do. You definitely can't fit the battery through the opening. lkatze2 Report post Posted November 14, 2017 Klatoo, yes it is a minor PITA. Most of the auto parts stores don't stock the battery, you will have to call around. The dealer definitely will have it in stock. My local dealer said he was getting a lot of orders for batteries on the 2013/2014 models since they are reaching that 4 year age. lkatze2 Report post Posted November 14, 2017 BTW, since the battery does not crank the engine, you can run the battery voltage pretty low before the electronics/ computers will not operate. When my battery finally gave out completely the no load voltage was about 8 volts and the voltage under load was about 3 volts. klatoo Report post Posted November 14, 2017 So I'm guessing your signs are dead radio screens or failure to turn on? Anything else? Now that you mention it some days it takes forever to get the radio to turn on period. You can hit the button all day but nothing for 30 seconds or so (all the screens are up though, it's just the radio is off so no FM AM Sirius etc). Hi I know I'm reviving a old thread but I have a related question. What is the purpose of the vent tube that plugs into the 12V? If you don't plug it in whats the consequence of that? I installed a new battery and after mounting it I realize I didn't plug in the vent tube. I tried finding a hole to plug in the vent tube but couldn't find any on my new battery. murphy Report post Posted November 16, 2018 The vent tube puts the hydrogen that is released during charging underneath the car instead of in the cabin. The picture isn't very good but it looks like there is a hole in the end of the top cap of the battery. There should be one at each end of the top cap.
