Skydogz Report post Posted July 28, 2017 Help!I had a dead 12 volt battery and took it to Ford dealer for new one. Since then my gas mileage has gone way down!Today I got my oil changed (at Valvoline) and the mechanic said that he noticed the date on my radio display shows the year 2000, and I was pretty sure it used to always pop up with a date ending in 2013 (I have a 2014). could the dealer disconnecting my 12volt battery have dumped the updated programming in my car? What should the current program show for a date on startup? Thanks!

Thanks! Is your odometer correct? 1,299 miles on a 2014? Disconnecting the battery will erase the date, just adjust it. For the fuel economy, may have to go through a tank of gas for the system to relearn itself. Edited July 29, 2017 by billford
Skydogz Report post Posted July 29, 2017 (edited) My mileage is not 36000+, that is a picture from my first 500 mile tank of gas. Your saying that the date flashing on my radio screen upon start up is NOT anything to do with the vehicle software? If so, where do I find the vehicle software version installed on my car? Skydogz Report post Posted July 29, 2017 OK my Ford synch provided an update to the Sync and radio ONLY. As it turns out the date on my car display HAS always been wrong, lol. I thought it was a software update date when you turned the car on as it never was set! The clock button only takes you to a clock setting and does not give the option to set the date :( So i hunted through the many many menus and set it after 3 years! Now I am disappointed that nowhere does the car inform you of the program running the engine fuel EPROM. But thanks so much for the help as I do for the first time have an up to date Ford Sync program since buying the car.
billford Report post Posted July 29, 2017 You will not know the other modules software levels (except for sync) unless you attempt to reprogram them with a dealer tool. Modules get updated all the time to fix software glitches If everything is working ok, just leave it. They won't get erased by disconnecting a battery. billford Report post Posted July 30, 2017 The low mpg may be due to the battery being disconnected as you stated. RAM is lost. Go through a tank of fuel so it relearns itself, then see if the mpg improved.
