Hill Start Assist Warning/TC, IVD, RSC Event or Fault

Recommended Posts

Just recently got rear ended on the highway and pushed into the car in front of me. Geico replaced my front & rear bumpers due to the accident.

After getting my car back I started getting warning messages related to AdvanceTrac & Hill Start Assist. Brought the car back to Geico claiming that these warnings were a result of the accident. They sent the car to Ford and the dealer concluded that these were not a result of the accident. They claim that the errors are related to my steering rack/gear.

Has anyone else received these error codes? I find it hard to believe that the steering rack is causing these errors to appear. Before replacing this part I would be curious to see if anyone else on the forum has any input....

Any help would be appreciated!!

Yes, same error messages I got. It was the steering rack. Since yours is a 2014 it may be under warranty. If not be prepared for a $1,800 hit.

I asked the dealer if my warranty covered the issue and they said my bumper to bumper warranty expired at 36K miles, my car has over 40K.

Hermans - you had the same exact issue on your car and the rack fixed it?

If I need to replace the rack I plan on buying it online for $800 and replacing it myself. This will be easier to swallow vs the $2K quote I got from the stealership...

I own a 2016 hybrid and it shows these same problems. Since I got the car (brand new) the lights show up in a specific corner in my way home. It is bumpy and with a mild ascending. The last car I had, was a 2015 hybrid (bought new) and it showed the same problems in the same corner. So, I believe it is a software problem, not a hardware issue.
