ByteMe Report post Posted April 25, 2016 Hello All, So I just signed up here and I must say looks like this is a great crowd and I am happy to be here. Yes I am a proud 2015 FFH HyTi owner for over a month now. You all are gonna love this story.. I am a motor-head never owned a vehicle whose gas mileage was over 18Mpg. That is until I moved to the VA/DC/MD area. Once here I swore I would never own a traditional gas vehicle as watching the dollars get sucked out of my pocket while sitting in traffic was really not at the top of my to-do list. I am a huge techie so doing the research two years ago on hybrids was easy for me. At that time I new about the Fusions and when I was making my purchase believe it or not.. I really couldn't find any that I could test drive. Well... it could also have been that I have been a sworn GM/CHEVY fan and really might not have looked that hard ;).. Sooo I settled on a 2010 Toyota Prius..Yes I know laugh it up while you can motorhead converts to Prius.. even I laugh at it to this day. I have also over the past two years heard all the jokes sooo yeah I am pretty much immune.. But I was saving my dollars and the 50 dollar weekly gas expense was right up my alley as I have quite a commute to get to work I do 150miles/day. So my Prius and I were rocking the MPGs. I did a lot of studying on how to drive a hybrid to achieve maximum MPG and was satisfied with with my gas bills as I found the comfortable medium between driving and not being an annoying Prius driver. Over the two years I had thought where I would see myself and one day while traveling I had the pleasure of driving a 2014 FFH. Well.. folks from a sworn Chevy/GM fan I must say I was super impressed with EVERYTHING.. The ride was awesome.. the transition from ICE to EV was un-noticeable and the handling.. The car didn't drive like a Hybrid and that really impressed me. To the point where I said that this would be the ONLY Ford I would ever CONSIDER purchasing. Fast forward to a month and a half ago.. While on a trip to NYC for work I get a call from my Fiance.. She was in tears saying she totaled the Prius. Well after comforting her and making sure she was all right.. In my mind I said "Yeesssss now I can REALLY look into the FFH". This time I would give it the chance to impress me enough to see if it would be the car I purchased. After I got back into town me and the misses began the journey.. I knew I wanted a bigger hybrid but not an SUV I wanted a bigger car. So I set out to test them all; Kia, Hyundai, Honda, Toyota, Ford.. I did them all. It came down to two.. the FFH and the Camry. Off to the showroom floor as the dealer in town is both a Ford and Toyo dealer.. So he set me up on a side by side test drive of a '16 Camry Hybrid and '16 FFH Fully loaded with even that parallel parking thing. Sooo.. Did the Camry first and it was exactly what I expected from Toyo; slow acceleration (although a bit better than the Prius but not by much), cornering was floaty (like a boat).. Eh.. all in all I was not impressed. Next up.. the FFH.. first thing.. from a standing stop I punched and that car reacted like it grew a pair of balls and well dang.. I raised my first eyebrow while the sales man said (I told you so). Then we did some curves and man that car stuck to them.. I threw all I could at it and all it could do was fight back and say "I am not your typical Hybrid". Well lets just say end of the ride.. I Was impressed and sold that I would OWN my FIRST FORD in 40 years!!!! The dude tried to to show me the auto parallel park thing.. Seems it had technical difficulties so of course you know I am not buying a car where even the salesman cant get the feature to work.. PLUS.. I am one of the few that actually CAN parallel park so it wasn't a feature I was looking for. Long story short I found my new girl at guess where.. A CHEVY DEALERSHIP.. LOL.. She's dead sexxy 2015 FFH HyTi she sports all the features with the exception of the whole parallel park thing. I dont have front sensors but got the rest.. Sunroof, heated seats, lane keeping thing, power driver/pass seats, Sync etc. She's only got 17k miles still got factory warranty and I have to say that for the past month.. I have really enjoyed driving her. I am still doing the 150mile round trip between Culpeper, VA and Rockville, MD and so far I am averaging 47 MPG. I know theres much I can do to improve but I am impressed at how awesome she drives and that she really doesn't drive like a hybrid but I get all the economy of one. For this converted GM/Chevy to Ford guy I am happy to say my money was well spent and I am looking forward to a very long and enjoyable relationship with her. So hats off to Ford.. As I am certainly one impressed and HAPPY FFH HyTi owner. Cant wait to talk more to all of you hear. I will be studying this site and hope to interact more with you all. Talk Soon! PS enjoy the attached pics of her I took at the dealer. 1 thrasher086 reacted to this
Cobra348 Report post Posted April 25, 2016 Welcome to the FFH club! I take mine in for 30K check tomorrow but have had a blast in it. Best doggone Winter car I've ever had. Mine's not as decked out as yours - heated steering wheel, heated/cooled seats, terracotta interior and adaptive cruise is all I got on it (ordered it). You're gonna enjoy life now! <chuckle>
machoman1337 Report post Posted April 25, 2016 Congratulations! Like you, I bought a pre-owned FFH (2013) and couldn't be happier. Awesome colour as well.

For me I liked the look outside, although for some reason I am just not into what Honda does with their interiors. I cant quite put a finger on it but all I can say is eh ~shrugs~. The drive was nice, maybe I am too picky but I still could feel the transition although it wasnt THAT bad. I would say that if Ford ever stops with the Fusion It would be the Honda and Toyota on a really close drive battle. I really gotta say folks, Ford nailed it. I am very picky and for a committed GM/Chevy guy to choose a Ford well I am just saying it still wows me. Even after being used to the Prius. The funny thing is that the Toyota sales man still called me saying you know the Ford isnt going to hold its value like the Toyota will... What say you all to that one? What say you all to that one? He is right - Toyota and Honda are always leaders when it comes to resale value thanks to their reputations for bulletproof reliability. Ford depreciation is ROUGH - I saved over $10k on my Fusion vs buying a new one even though it had just 2,000 km on it at 20 months old. I don't expect it to be worth even $20k right now - heck I'd be lucky to get $15k. But that's all right, because I want to hold on to this car for a long time, and so the depreciation won't bother me. I never think of resale value when I go car-shopping - I want a car that I enjoy. I want a car that puts a smile on my face every time I get in. And if a car can do that, it's worth the cost. 1 Hybrider reacted to this
