jtoddk98 Report post Posted August 16, 2015 Hello! Im new to this forum. I am picking up a new 2016 Fusion Energi Titanium in a few days to replace my 2011 Taurus SHO. I want to know if the electrical system of the Energi can handle my subwoofers. My amp is a Pioneer GMD 9601 1200w RMS a 1ohm. According to the manual, it consumes about 45A and draws about 7.5A. Install should be easy as the battery is in the trunk on the Energi. Can the car handle the extra load? Thanks!
hybridbear Report post Posted August 16, 2015 Congrats on your new car. Check out the other threads in this section of the forum for answers to your questions. A number of other owners have described in detail the systems they have installed. I think you will find your answer by reading about what other owners have done. 1 GrySql reacted to this
jtoddk98 Report post Posted August 17, 2015 Do you know how many amps the charging system can supply to the 12v battery?

jdbob Report post Posted August 17, 2015 Do you know how many amps the charging system can supply to the 12v battery? On the C-Max it's 145 amps, I would imagine it's the same on the Fusion. Like Hybridbear said, other people have done it.

Like Hybridbear said, other people have done it.Read the illustration in Post #4 for the complete description of the process, the FFH's "DC/DC converter control module is capable of outputting as many as 165 amps".Yes, some sophisticated audio & other systems have been installed in this car, even emergency red lights and siren. jtoddk98 Report post Posted August 17, 2015 Looks like ill be downsizing my system then, Ill knock it down to one sub and a 500w rms amp. That shouldn't pull as much amperage. My 11 SHO had a factory 200a alternator, handled my 1200w amp fine.

That could be why I said the C-Max could do 145 amps. Apparently Ford thought the Fusion needed more power, possibly for the optional Margarita Blender, which isn't available on the C-Max. 1 GrySql reacted to this
murphy Report post Posted August 17, 2015 The addition of anoher speaker may require deactivation of the active noise cancellation since the system would no longer be balanced. 1 jtoddk98 reacted to this
jtoddk98 Report post Posted August 17, 2015 Can't you just turn anc off in the MFT menus?
murphy Report post Posted August 17, 2015 Can't you just turn anc off in the MFT menus? No, the fuse can be pulled but I am unsure if that disconnects something else. The three microphones in the headliner can be disconnected if you know how to work with a headliner without damaging it. Are you sure that you can't get the sound that you want by adjusting the bass and treble balance and the left/right, front/back positioning controls? jtoddk98 Report post Posted August 17, 2015 (edited) The stock sony sound is a lot better then the sony in my SHO. It just lacks the low end bass that gives the music real depth, I'm fine with downsizing my system to 500w rms with 1 10in sub, it'll probably fit in the trunk better anyway. Just wanted to know if ill cause any electrical system damage and if the car can handle the load. The 500w amp I have laying around consumes around 25-30A at full trot. The 1200w amp used in my current setup pulls about 40-50A at full trot. Edited August 17, 2015 by jtoddk98
