Are you a Waze navigation enthusiast? This free iPhone/Android app under the Google umbrella provides near real-time traffic jam, road hazards, average road speed if slower than normal, accidents, comments, and optimized custom routing with live re-routing. I have used it for years on my iPhone. It is "real time" in the fact it is "crowd sourced". The data comes from the potentially 1000's of Waze users in your area -- all posting police, accidents, etc. If I report a "major accident" on an interstate during rush hour, other Wazer's will be notified in only a minute or two. The "crowd" verifies reports so, for example, if police car shown on the map ahead has disappeared, you can "delete" the report. The app provides suggested routes, distance and time. The time to read destination is uncanny. It's a lot of fun. Wouldn't it be great if you could use a free real-time traffic information app on your SYNC3 display? The graphics are not as slick as the Ford navigation (and Waze doesn't display exit lanes) but I will take hazard accuracy over slick graphics any day. Google demo'd Waze on Android Auto last Summer at their developer conference (Google I/O). A video is posted. Waze for Android is not out yet, but it is promised "soon". I saw a nice rumor posting today so I will start the ongoing "Waze watch" for Android Auto here. Recent rumor on release: http://nseavoice.com/tech/android-auto-waze-integration-scheduled-for-next-month-920019399.html Pre release demo: (You will see a route selected, followed by a straight line with dozens of icons popping up. Those are cars on the side of the road, police, accidents, etc on your route. You normally get a choice of 3 routes with the fastest one at the top.

I am certainly not proud to say that the area where I live, and drive, only came in as the #2 worst city for the most time spent in traffic. This also equates to a lot of social issues caused by this depressing state of affairs. This 'time spent' makes it more important than ever to have a vehicle that can get you back and forth with the minimum of fuss, safely. The FFH is pretty good at taking care of its passengers. How does your nearby city compare? http://www.weather.com/travel/commuter-conditions/news/worst-traffic-cities-2015

I've been playing with the free Waze app on my smart phone. https://www. waze.com/ Its really been an asset on roadtrips. More info then gps. I'm almost ready to retire Carmen the Garmin. Anyone else a Wazer? I want to get it running on my FFH console screen. Via bluetooth, USB, video jacks, anyway possible. Any Ideas???

Not sure if anyone else has asked about this. I find that the traffic in the navigation map is hard to see (especially the green lines are washed out by freeway lines). They are much easier to see when navigation is in night mode with the black background. Is there a way to manually put the navigation map in night mode? I have done this in other cars but not yet figured out how to do it with this car. Also, can our rep Kim chime in on this? Please suggest to Ford that the traffic lines should be made thicker to be more visible. Thanks David

We just acquired a 2010 with Navigation. It has the Sync Services option but we have not paid for that service. I'd like to get traffic data for the navigation system and it seems like you have a choice of paying either Sirius/XM $3.00 a month for the data or Sync Services $5.00 per month. Of course it is free on Google Maps and Waze and similar smartphone apps. So, a few questions: - If you install the Inrix app on yor phone does it provide any traffic functionality if you aren't paid Sync subscriber? - Is there some way to use Waze or Google Maps data with the navigation system? - If I'm less than anxious to pay for what is generally available for free am I stuck looking at my phone for traffic data? What I would really like is a car that as a screen that simply displays what's on my phone. All my apps, data, songs, etc. in an interface that I know. And I wouldn't have to pay $2,000 for functionality that Google gives away for free. (Dream on).
