First post to the forum so I'm sorry if this is in the wrong place, but this forum seemed to have the most discussion about DTCs. Let me know if I should post this somewhere else. Bought my 2013 Hybrid a few months ago, just crossing the 10K miles and the indicator came on to get my oil changed. Crazy schedule with spring break so instead of going to dealer I just went to a local Firestone. I had noticed that in addition to the oil change warning there was also a yellow engine warning. I guessed that was just another indication to get the oil changed. Got the oil changed but the engine light was still on. I thought it might go off after a few minutes--that happened when the tire pressure light came on during a cold snap and I put some air in, light went away a few minutes later. But this time the light stayed on even when I got home 15 minutes later. Google brought me to this forum and I saw how to look up the DTC. But when I got to the screen it did have three codes, all three are marked as HIST rather than current. The three codes are: C15900 C46B86 F00316 I've seen some of them referenced on the forum without saying what they are. My question to the smart crowd here--I have two longish trips coming up in the next few days (at least 5 hours driving Thursday, then 3 hours driving on Friday and Sunday). Are these benign codes or do I need to worry? Thanks.

I just thought I'd elaborate on this subject since a couple of us have had these Dash Display Warnings in very different weather conditions. Hybridbear's instance was in very cold, ice and snow and mine was in fair weather. I tried resetting mine with the FFH's little funnel that is included and carried under the mat in the trunk. The procedure is in the FFH Owner's manual. The Warning did not reset at that time, now I know why. I'll get to that in a minute. When these 'Warnings' occur I use the center console's SYNC system to generate a Vehicle Health Report. Then I upload that VHR from the car to the Syncmyride.com website where I had previously registered my car when I first took possession. This is a good thing to do whenever an Alert or Warning is displayed on your Dash Display and, especially as any Warning may be transient, you will have a record of the occurrence. If you are driving, just pull over, park with the car running and do it. Back to re-setting the Fill Inlet. My clearing with the funnel did not seem to work, today I looked at the VHR on Syncmyride.com. The VHR had the Warning listed and explained that the warning may not reset right away, see below. I've underlined the related reset info and the exact text from the Syncmyride website. - UrgentCheck Fuel Fill Inlet What Should I Do? At the next opportunity, safely pull off the road, turn off the engine, open the fuel filler door and remove any visible debris from the fuel fill opening. Insert either the fuel fill nozzle or the fuel fill funnel (see Refilling With a Portable Fuel Container in your Owner's Manual for funnel location) provided with the vehicle several times to dislodge any debris and/or allow the inlet to close properly. If this action corrects the problem, the Check Fuel Fill inlet message may not reset immediately. It may take several driving cycles for the Check Fuel Fill Inlet message to turn off. A driving cycle consists of an engine start-up (after four or more hours with the engine off) followed by city/highway driving. Continuing to drive with the Check Fuel Fill Inlet message on may cause the service engine soon lamp to turn on as well. - I can't know for certain, but after finding this out about one type incident, the reset time required may pertain to others. Taking the time to get a VHR for future reference could help any of us who experience these 'teething' problems with this new generation of technology in our cars. Edit: It's best to email the report to yourself or print out each VHR, the Syncmyride website only keeps the last one that was reported. Hopefully you never need to do this

It's cold in Boston; yesterday it snowed. This morning it was 15*. Anyways, when I started out on my 60 mile commute, my garaged '13 FFH SE displayed several warnings: * Sensors are inoperable * Drivers assist is inoperable * ACC is inoperable * Parking assist is inoperable * Traction control is inoperable * Hill assist is inoperable * Low fuel (~1/8 of a tank) - I knew this. After all of these warnings and realizing that none should affect the ability to drive the car, I decided to proceed on my 60 mile commute to work. As warned, the ACC wouldn't work when I tried. I also saw on the Information page (on left pane of console) that there are two warnings. At around 50 miles in, I decided to actually get some gas - because aiming for 500 miles isn't as important as running out of gas. (For the record, I was at 485 miles and had 9 miles before hitting empty.) After filling up (13 gallons, $45), I restarted my commute... but noticed that ACC was now available. I checked the Information page - 0 warnings. Whaaa? So after getting to work, I looked on the forum to see if others had encountered this. I was able to find this post - which is basically what happened to me, but then the car fixed itself. Now I don't know what to think. I'm at 7k miles, so it's time for a check up anyway.

To make a short story long.... I went to my great Dealer today to get my axle Thrust Washers installed for the 'cracking' repair. I added a VHR that contained Dash Warnings my car has intermittently, regarding traction control and brakes. To that I threw in TSB 13-6-22 about check engine and various DTC warnings. Plus an oil/filer change and tire rotation. We then moseyed over to the Dealers little cafe and had our free breakfast, but got bored eventually. So, my great Dealer gave us an Enterprise '13 Ford Focus (Ugh!) to drive around during the day while they fixed the car. We soon tired of that funky Focus and got back to the Dealer about 2:30pm and I checked in with my great Service Advisor to find the Thrust Washers were in place and repair done, the oil changed* and tires rotated*. (*A free Dealer service perk, what a great Dealer) That's when the happy faces stopped. My dash warnings on the VHR showed a problem with the brake system getting an consistent error code. The Hybrid brake/eCVT Specialist went through the system and declared it working properly, except for the input DTC from the ICE. The car was moved over to another Service Bay (they have 50+ bays) and the 'Driveability' Specialist was told to find out why the brakes were getting a DTC from the ICE. There is such a thing as a 'Diagnostic Tree' (flow chart) that the Specialist follows and the Throttle Body sensor was sending codes to the brakes telling them something was wrong. The Specialist went down the Yes/No chart and ended up back where it started, no answer. He did this carefully 3 times, with another helper assisting, no joy. At this point the only thing that is allowed to be done is: Call THE FORD HELP LINE. It is now 4:30pm and we're getting cranky. Nothing can be done now, the Service Adviser cannot release the car to me because of the VHR's warning about the brakes. So, top this, we get another Enterprise rental car, I refuse the Ford Focus and end up with a '12 Fusion SE. That is two free rental cars in one day! Now, I live 75 miles from my GREAT Dealer and I mention that I am not happy paying for gas for the rental car because my car can't be repaired. Absolutely, my great Service Advisor says "don't worry about a thing, the car & gas are on us" - amazing, simply amazing. Now we're home, enjoyed driving the '12 Fusion and, hopefully, sometime tomorrow my car will be fixed. I can then go back on Wednesday and get it because if I don't it is the 4th of July weekend and I won't have it for a week. = BTW, a FFH Forum member stopped by the Dealership (his great Dealer too) this morning and we swapped stories about our cars, it was a pleasure. = But this makes me wonder, there are times when the car feels like it's dragging an anchor and the mpg's are low, like a steady 45 mph and getting 10mpg's. Could the brakes be affecting performance and causing something negative to happen? The car has had these brake warnings since the first month I owned it, a Dealer did a 'Hard System Reset' to clear the Dash Warnings then. I've had several since then that clear themselves after a re-start, with the last one happening a couple weeks ago. Strange...
