Yesterday I was driving home from work and I was listening to 100.5, one of the presets on FM1. Suddenly there was no sound and I figured the station had a momentary loss of signal, so I tried switching to another station to check. There was no response to my input on the touchscreen so I tried switching to SiriusXM...nothing. Tried switching to CD and again, no response. I tried switching to FM2, no response. I reached into my center console and got my USB reboot stick and plugged it in. MFT did it's thing and at the next red light, I shut off the car and opened the door so it would reboot and everything came back to normal. Has anyone else seen this? That's like the 3rd time I've had to reboot MFT in the 7-1/2 Mos. I've had the car each time for a different reason. Glad I made that USB stick!

If you want to carry all your digital music with you there is an easy way to do it! I have over 8000 songs on a 64GB Thumb Drive that is plugged into the USB port in my center console cubby! Here's how it works and some tips I have found . . . 1) Buy a good quality (brand name) USB flash drive large enough to support you library. In fact make it considerably larger to be able to add to it later AND to help with indexing (I'll explain more on this later). Buy one with a fast transfer rate. 2) DO NOT USE FOLDERS! It will not work. Simply load all the songs you want into the root drive of the USB thumb drive. Song titles, Artist, Album selections, Album Art will all be visible when viewed on your touch screen, as they would on your iPod. To play back just select the appropriate USB 1 or 2 on the touch screen, as determined by where you plugged the drive in. 3) My 64GB thumb drive with over 8000 songs (yes there was room for much more!) took about 2 hours for the onboard computer to index! You can start playing music from it in about 2-3 minutes though you will not be able to jump around. It will only play sequentially until it is fully indexed. You can move forward or backwards though. And each time you jump, you will be able to see how many songs have already been indexed so far. It will not need to re-index each time you start the car. 4) Removing or plugging in the thumb drive while the car is switched on will cause the thumb drive to need to be re-indexed the next time you plug it in! Make sure you leave it in until you turn the car off, and plug it back in before you switch the car on again. 5) I had occasional hiccups with the system that would cause it to start the re-indexing process. This annoyance is mostly avoided by following the above guidance, but not completely. It's a pain when it does this. To speed up indexing, you may want to consider putting less music on the thumb drive. When I reduced the number of songs to about 3500, indexing greatly sped up and was completed in about 10 minutes! Having extra room on the drive also speeds up indexing. You may want to consider smaller thumb drives. Just make sure you leave some space to add on and to allow for faster indexing. ROCK ON! ~Wailer

As I've posted previously, I have a Novatel USB727 internet stick that uses Verizon Wireless to provide internet service. I simply plug the USB stick in my laptop and I've got internet service wherever Verizon Wireless has service available. I'd like to be able to plug this USB stick into my HyTi and use the USB Mobile Broadband option to create a WiFi hotspot inside the vehicle. Not so easy, it turns out. The HyTi would not recognize the Novatel USB727 internet stick. So, I asked Rebecca at Ford on Facebook if there instructions on how to pair the USB stick with MFT. She told me to follow the instructions posted here, but these instructions were for connecting a phone to tether, not a USB stick. I waited a month and asked if they had any success with USB sticks. Her is her reply: Has anyone been able to get a USB stick to create a WIFi hotspot? If yes, what is teh make, model, and wireless carrier of the USB Stick?
