The light housings in a halogen and HID headlamp are different. They are designed to disperse the light according to the light source intended for them, ergo your halogen designed headlamps are not going to do as good of a job dispersing light from an HID as a light housing designed for an HID bulb. That being said when my HID kit was working in my 2010 for the limited time it did work I thought it did an ample job so maybe if you could find a projector it would help but I would recommend finding a headlamp designed for HID bulbs.

DDM Tuning HID kits
shawn_carter69 replied to shawn_carter69's topic in Glass, Headlights, Fog lamps, Lenses & Window Tint
I don't mean any disrespect to DDM as I said they were very helpful and did what they "could" to help and seemed to truly want to help. Just so those who from outside the US know they won't get too much help should anything go wrong. -
So an FYI to all "international" customers (read not American) considering an HID kit. If you have an issue with your kit from DDM Tuning and need a warranty claim then you will have to foot the bill on shipping back to them. They were fairly helpful trying to help me figure out the issues with my kit and eventually came to the conclusion I had bad ballasts and issued me a ticket to have them exchanged under warranty but they want me to pay another $30 in shipping (I'm assuming thats the cost because of what they charged me to ship them to me in the first place) for a kit I have had for about two weeks and has never worked properly.

How did you go about painting the surrounds? Did you remove them or tape them off?

HID Kits
shawn_carter69 replied to BigRedNole's topic in Glass, Headlights, Fog lamps, Lenses & Window Tint
Might happen if i can't get it to work but hid hub is literally 3 1/2 times the price... That would have to be a freaking huge gain in performance, reliability and anything you cannthink of... -
HID Kits

I wonder, I went with the slim ballast but again I don't see what diff that would make I guess I just need s couple of minutes to actually call them to get some ideas from them. -
HID Kits

I've readjusted and checked the wires 3 or 4 times to make sure the connections are good and they can't get any better. Not sure why they would "overheat" in my Fusion but not yours. What year is your? I have a 2010 with the projectors so if you have an 06-09 with open area with better heat displacement I guess that would explain. -
I totally agree with the look of the rockers but holy over priced batman. You can buy the whole 3dCarbon kit for the same price as just the rockers....

HID Kits

4 kits and no issues? I have been having mass issues with my ddm tuning kit. My driver's side stays on for 5minutes then cuts out, my passenger has gone out a time or 2 and flickers on occassion... not impressed. Had them a week, I'm gonna talk to somebody this week annd see what can be done about it. -
Leather Seats
shawn_carter69 replied to ruggsyrn's topic in Interior Trim, Seats, Seat Belts & Covers
Bumper to Bumper is a misnomer. No non-luxury brand automaker offers a true Bumper to Bumper warranty as things like brakes, light bulbs, wiper blades are not covered outside of the first year by anybody outside of a BMW, MB, Lexus, Audi etc, and even not all of them do it either. -
Call your dealer and see what the warranty was on the Certified vehicle. I'm not sure as Ford doesn't do that in Canada that I 'm aware of. If they say the basic warranty was a couple of years your good, if they say that it is like most other Certified waranties (Honda) then it is only powertrain and your hooped.

Yeah I got the same the response, a bunch of stuff about the econonmy and cost of R&D.... blah blah blah. Lol, I know it's not cheap I'm just disappointed.

Sorry didn't do a great job of explaining. It usually needs to be re-applied periodically but the point I was trying to make was that every 6 months seems way too quickly to me.
-
I sell Ford's and have for a numbr of years now and there are many different paint protections out there of varying qualities. I have never heard of this one, and none are bulletproof but some do a very good job of protecting against nicks and scratches. The part that concerns me is the fact that thye say it has to be re-applied every 6 months? The product we use at our store has a lifetime warranty against rust and corrosion and just has to be inspected once a year. Do you have to pay for the re-application? Because if you did I would say you got "penetrated" IMO

3D Carbon has nothing out for the 2010 yet. I'm interested myself in seeing what it will look like cause I really do like the look of most of their kits and I think they're quite tasteful.

A lot of stuff Ford dos that seems small to some people (no more telescoping wheel on the Focus) are cost cutting measures. If it seems small and like it might have only saved a coupleof bucks, if they would sell a million of those vehicles a year then they save a couple million dollars a year. One of the reason's no bailout money was taken IMO. Not always the most popular answer but most seemingly small "oversights" were d/t saving some money.

The first gen Fusions had an option for the Sport Package (at least in Canada) where you got blacked out upper and lower grills and wheels as well and some other interior dress up changes.

FYI after searching this forum and google for like an hour and a half I figured it out. In satelite mode push AUX and the radio preset 1 at the same time.

Turn by turn in Canada
shawn_carter69 replied to InAbsentia's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Currently not offering it. (If you check out the Sync manual it say in the US only) and I haven't heard anything to say when or even if they plan on doing so. -
SYNC and Blackberry Tour
shawn_carter69 replied to Rodeo's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
If you go to syncmyride.com it will tell you what features Sync supports on what phones and no Blackberry's are able to have texts read. I would have to agree it is a RIM thing. -
Creating playlists: can you do it in the car?
shawn_carter69 replied to Deathlok's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Depends on you mp3 player. On my iTouch I can create new ones easily on it. It's more of a function of you player than Sync. -
How to know if a Fusion has Sync
shawn_carter69 replied to dorough's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Yes, but the point was that if it had the moonroof it would in all likelihood have Sync.
