How do I update my Sirius Channel Guide?
Upstream replied to brodskyf's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
I called Sirius to find out why the temporary holiday music channels still show up with their original name (I figure if they can show the name of the song and artist, they can also show the current channel name). "Peggy" was sorry that I feel that way and she made a note to notify technical support. :-( -
X Plan pricing vs. Price haggling on a 2011 Hybrid
Upstream replied to Zoom's topic in Buying, Leasing & Ordering
If you are a good at haggling, you might do a little better (maybe $200) than X-plan, or you might do a lot worse. Figure you might do better 10% of the time and worse 90% of the time. To me, the slight possibility of doing a little better isn't worth the risk of the probability of doing a lot worse. So I use the X-Plan, and avoid the haggling. X-plan rules are pretty strict. It is a fixed price for the car and the dealer can't negotiate that price, and the dealer must give you a copy of the invoice showing the fixed X-plan price. You are still entitled to all incentives with X-Plan. -
That's what happens when the humidity and temperature inside the car is higher than the outside. Turn on the defogger (with A/C) to get rid of it.

IS SYNC A TOTAL WASTE FOR ME?
Upstream replied to Beachboy's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
Suggesstions? What suggestions? If you have no use for Sync features, then you have no use for them. Just like my hard-of-hearing mom has no use for a CD player or radio. I suppose she could be "driven up the wall" having features she doesn't use. But she isn't bothered by the radio. She just doesn't use it. If you have no reason to use Sync, then just don't use it. What's the big deal? -
I think you have to edit the genre for the album and also separately for every track on the album

I looked into color visibility before buying my Fusion. Different studies have identified different colors as the safest. Consensus is that light, bright colors are more visible than dark, muted colors. So white, silver, or fire-engine red are typically more visible than black, dark gray, or maroon. Some studies say that white is most visible (but sometimes is hard to see in snowy weather) and some studies say light silver is most visible because it is reflective (but sometimes hard to see in foggy weather). Bright colors like bright yellow, bright orange, or bright red are less visible at night than white or silver, but don't get hidden as easily in fog or snow (which is why those colors are often used by emergency vehicles).

From the Jukebox section of the Navigation Owner's Manual: Accessing the music in your jukebox Once you have saved music to your jukebox, you can then choose several ways to play your favorite music. To access: 1. Press the MEDIA hard button on the navigation system. 2. Select the ‘Jukebox’ tab on the touchscreen. You can then select from the following options: Scan: Press for a brief sampling of the currently selected CD, playlist, genre, etc. Press again to disengage. Repeat: Press to repeat the current CD, playlist, etc. Press again to disengage. Shuffle: Press to shuffle all the tracks on the current CD, playlist, etc. in random order. Press again to disengage. Music library: Press to access all of your saved music. You can choose to view/play the material in the following ways: Play all tracks: Select to play all tracks saved in the jukebox. Playlist: Select to play your own playlist. Play genre: Select to have the system play only music from a specific genre. Play artist: Select to have the system play only music by a specific artist. Play album: Select to have the system play only music from a specific album. Options: Select to view your other options: Edit Playlists: Select to edit your playlists. Edit Music Library Contents: Select to make changes to the content in your music library. Update Album Information from CD Database: Select to update the residing album information from the Gracenote database if a recent software update was performed. Hard Disk Drive Information: Select to access the system’s hard drive disc information such as used/free space and total capacity. CD Database Information: Select to access the CD database information. Edit Music Library Contents allows you to edit the song information for music you loaded into the database. (Though I find it easier to use my home computer to burn a CD with the track information embedded into the CD.)

IS SYNC A TOTAL WASTE FOR ME?
Upstream replied to Beachboy's topic in Audio, MyFord, Navigation & SYNC
If you don't use any of the features that Sync supports, then Sync adds no value to you. My mom is hard of hearing, so she doesn't listen to CDs. The CD player in her car is a waste. So is the radio. -
One of the things you need to be careful of with DRLs without the auto-headlight feature: DRLs run the headlights at half power and don't run the taillights at all. So you still need to manually turn on the headlights at dusk or when it rains. (If you leave the headlights on full power all the time, I think the battery-saver feature turns them off 10 minutes after ignition is turned off and the key removed. But I am not sure about this, so you might want to test it.)

I think Akirby was asking why you didn't select the autoheadlight option when selecting your Fusion. You can buy a Fusion with or without autoheadlights. Seems strange that someone who thinks it is important would select a Fusion without. By the way, I had the dealer turn on the DRLs on my wife's Fusion. It took them about 10 minutes, but I had to explain to them how to do it, because they didn't know (Hook up diagnostic computer, go to external lighting menu, select DRLs).

The 10GB Jukebox feature is an alternative to the 6-CD changer which is on the non-Nav cars. If your CD isn't listed in the Gracenotes database, you can enter the data manually into the system, or if you a bit more tech saavy, you can use your home computer to burn a CD with the album information embedded in the tracks. You can also ignore the Jukebox, and just use the USB port to play MP3s from you MP3 player or a USB flashdrive. Sure there are a lot of things I would improve in the Jukebox (as well as other Sync and Nav technologies in the Fusion). But for the most part, I selected the Fusion for its automotive, not music, features, and even so the music technology is still more advanced than what it available from most competing auto manufacturers.

Mine is leather. It isn't soft (like the seats); it is a hardened leather. But it is still leather, and as a natural material, it doesn't get blistering hot in the sun like the plastic parts of the dash

Sync Traffic & Directions is not available if you have the Navigation System. So if you stop subscribing to Sirius Travel Link, you will lose your traffic data. (Also, Sync Traffic is different that Sirius Travel Link traffic. Sirius traffic is integrated with the Nav System. Traffic information is overlayed onto the navigation map, and Sirius will give traffic information to any destination or in your area. With Sync traffic, you just get an audio traffic report along routes only to destinations you have preprogrammed on line. Click here to see video)

I don't think the test criteria changed. If you read the data, the Fusion has a higher roof strength ratio for cars built after Apr 2010. It sounds like Ford implemented a manufacturing or design change in April which improved the test results. But that doesn't mean that cars built before April are unsafe ... they are still acceptable.
