  1. @2014FordFusionSE You are right. The miles are just under 38k. What do you mean: I should "call Ford". You mean corporate? I did talk with the service departments at 5 Ford dealerships. If corporate, do I talk with customer service? I did talk with a certified Ford mechanic shop, but they are not set up to work on hybrids. The contact there checked on the 12v battery and said that it was not a standard 12v batter, and that their instructions were to have a Ford dealership replace that battery. Likewise AAA said they could not replace it. So I am back to having to wait on the dealerships. Does anyone know what the typical Ford dealership service process is with respect to setting priorities to certain types of customers. I didn't buy this car from a Ford Dealership. Would that cause them to give me lower priority for servicing?
  2. @Timewellspent I have in fact tried to start the car without my foot on the brake pedal and had this result a two or three times in the last year. With all other cars I've had, I was typically in the habit of doing that, but if it was in 'park' I didn't worry too much. In this case I did not do that. In this case I had my foot on the brake pedal and the park brake was set when hit the start/stop button. Regardless of anything I did, I was unable to shut the car off. It would respond to accessory requests, but would not shut down even when I hit the stop button.
  3. Thanks so much for your quick replies. All good advice. We bought the car used 13 months ago and the manufacturer's warranty ended about a month ago. We do have an extended warranty, which doesn't cover any costs prior to the point at which the car is in the shop and a covered problem is found. Unfortunately of the 5 Ford dealerships I called, the earliest they could take the car was September 17, and that dealership is about 60 miles away. The two closest dealerships would not take the car until September 28th. So far the only solution we've found is to rent a car for close to $1000 for the next 3 weeks until the closes dealership can take the car. As far as I have been able to find out, there is no other mechanic outside the dealerships who is prepared to work on the hybrid. We love the car, but at this point I am considering trading it back in for something less tech! That consideration is further re-enforced since reading that Ford has just recently discontinued production of the Ford Fusion (for yet another SUV!#**!)
  4. Twice in two days now my 2018 Fusion hybrid's controls hang, at which point the displays are still on, but the power steering is off, the car won't move, and the start/stop button doesn't do anything (other than its blinking green light). This has happened when the car is not moving and the transmission is in 'Park'. There are two amber icons displayed: the battery icon, and the exclamation point in the triangle icon. After waiting something under 10 minutes the car seems to reset itself, at which point the start/stop button will respond and shut the car down, and then back up again. At this point the car works normally (until the next time!). Anyone have any experience or ideas about why this happens, whether we should continue to drive the vehicle, whether there is a quick workaround so the problem can be bypassed immediately, and what the permanent fix is and what it will cost?
