  1. I was unsure if the hybrid had a conventional heater core like in most heating systems but it seems it does. If youre inclined to dig around, check around the Climate Control Housing. In a previous vehicle of mine there was a pin hole leak in the heater core and because I couldnt find and thing anywhere else and kept refilling the radiator, subsequently I found the the floors inside the car underneath the carpet had filled with cooling fluid! This required the whole interior seats downward to be pulled out to get it cleaned then of course the heater core replaced which was a PITA!!! Im not saying this is YOUR issue but worth looking around to check. After the fact I realized that the smell like you seem to be having inside the vehicle was the "fumes" so to speak from the air passing through the core and sending the smell into the cabin.
  2. Another common problem with the fusion. It wont show when the car is jacked up, only with a load on the shock. I had it and just tightened the nut, went away. Now have it on the other side so plan to replace both when i get a chance.
  3. i would doubt it from previous experience that they could just be switched out but could be 100% wrong. I know manufacturers like to slightly amend dimensions as to make them incompatible with other models. look over on 2gfusion.com i think its called. those guys like to mod and there may be posts relating to what you are asking.
  4. i looked into it because when purchasing my car was doing night time deliveries. Opted not to do so because of 2 things: 1. most are only dual direction, meaning the led's only shine in two directions casting the light in a smaller angle from each side rendering the "blindspots" lower in light. This doesnt improve or degrades the output from the lens. 2. most have a heatsinks which cause the base to protrude to far and you cant reinstall the waterproof cover. If you leave it off, the headlight accumulates condenation inside and besides being unwanted, looks shit.
  5. I havent posted everything ive done here because it seems traffic is light at best but yes, i have replaced the 12v battery and had it disconnected for over the 3 min time frame you speak of. There is no other issues with the vehicle. The code is U3000 "Internal Electronic Failure" from the PSCM as well as ABS and PAM DTC's but they are related to communication from the PSCM. Would fail to see why the park assist feature would render the power steering disabled but it seems anything is possible with this thing. I have a rack, just waiting for the snow and ice to melt and it to be above 32degF hopefully in a few days.
  6. dont both of these technologies require gps or satellite connectivity? maybe it was just weather related.....
  7. I am still currently in the scenario of finding the exact fault. although am 99% sure its the rack i have one on the way at the moment. The idea is to unplug the wiring harness drop the two connectors below the vehicle and plug it into the replacement to test. If I figure out my problem, will post again with what I did to fix. Hoping that i can get a used/refurbished rack. Flash it with the current details (if needed. Then just have the part installed.
  8. How are the tires wearing. Inside, Oustide, both? I had to replace both ball joints because of excessive inner wear
  9. if you havent even left the dealer and its displaying issues, i wouldnt touch it with a 50ft pole
  10. Never too hopeful from anything at a dealership and for me they are an absolute last resort. Nothing I did yesterday changed the situation and working on the ground, the process to r&r one of these, i just don't have the capacity anymore. Seeing if FORScan can reset the module/fault so i can at least determine where the issue might lay. Ultimately hoping that i can flash the PSCM by backing up and re-flashing a new rack with the data because a $2000 repair at the dealership is 1/5 the cars total value, ridiculous! TBH, im really regretting this car with all the things ive had to do since purchase. https://www.carcomplaints.com/Ford/Fusion/2014/steering/steering.shtml Its a common problem.........
  11. So Im currently in my first major situation and am not holding much hope on what Ive read around the web. This sounds like a fairly common situation that ford refuse to acknowledge but im not going to change that so am looking for any advice or information. Here is the situation: The wife was driving this morning and lost all power assisted steering. Faults displayed on left screen were "Steering Assist Fault", "Service AdvanceTrac" as well as disabled lane keeping, hill decent etc but they are the main two associated with the problem. Dash has the two Stability Control Lights illuminated. There is no check engine light or OBD fault codes. It was exceptionally wet today! Heavy rain and LOTS of puddles!! What Ive done: Checked related fuses. Looked around the web to see LOTS of other people in the same situation. Looked on here. Havent found conclusive evidence for a fix other than taking it to Ford and handing over about $2000. See a recall for NHTSA CAMPAIGN ID: 15V250000 but my VIN doesnt fall into that recall (still in the back of my mind though) What I want to do: Get under the car and check the steering gear for visible issues. Check any relevant connections. Maybe it is just an issue with the excessive water? corrosion? a connector? Information im looking for: If needed and I was able to replace the Steering Gear, the service manual states "If a new steering gear was installed, download the PSCM configuration from the scan tool to the new PSCM", can this be done with FORScan? Not sure how old the 12V battery is but living in a colder climate and with how sensitive these cars are, should most probably replace it, but, would it be fair to say that if the 12V was an issue it would more than likey be exhibiting other issues also? Thanks for any replies, not holding much hope...... ?
  12. In regards to changing the oil. Since I had purchased my car used in April, I have done one oil change. Fairly straight forward but the bucket I drain the oil into was left in the garage for about 1 month. I usually pour it back into a oil container to take to the recyclers but this time i got side tracked. After emptying the bucket the other day I noticed a nice sludge had formed at the bottom of the bucket. So my reminder is set to 100% of the oil lifetime. I think Im going to look at where the % is at currently and what options are available for the setting and change the oil again let it sit and choose a more frequent option in the settings. Just an fyi from my personal experience
  13. unless you are changing it yourself 5w20 0w20 i wouldnt worry about it. difference is negligible. when the dash says change the oil, change the oil
  14. there was another topis posted recently regarding losing fluid from the inverter side if you wanna read that. both systems are seperate so that should eliminate half of the areas so to speak. If your losing that much it has to be going somewhere. Your going to have to find a schematic where the system can be traced. If you can see it externally it has to be internal to a component. Sometimes as im sure you know, the fault cant be located looking at it unless maybe the system is under pressure or at temperature.
  15. Personally I wouldnt say that. Dealearships are relatively incompetent at diagnosing their own vehicles even with supposed help they get from repair guides and self checking systems. Overall they are humans where if the issue cant be directly seen at the end of the day it isnt their car and they dont care about it as much as you. First and foremost the issue here is the system is losing fluid. as you said, it doesnt just disappear. IF you can't see it externally it has to be going somewhere internally. The system of issue, isnt really complicated, it just needs to be traced start to finish as to where it its going.
  16. Hi and welcome. You're right, it doesn't just disappear and has to go somewhere. If your invested in trying to fix the issue with Ford, I would suggest taking it to another dealership and without saying anything about what you have already done with the current, see what they say. Many times Ive read here that doing this get results. No guarantee though. You could take it to a reputable third party mechanic that and pay for a diagnosis. I would tell them all that you have done to assist in trying to find the issue. Other than that, if you're into trying to self diagnose look at the system over multiple days or weeks. You may see something tomorrow that you didn't see today. In my own personal experience, while you would think it would be easy to find a leak, there can be certain variables that prevent it from showing up. Things expand and contract. Maybe go into places that where you think they don't but overall the cooling systems on these are fairly simple. My questions for you are: You say initially the hybrid reservoir is low but then later you say they (ford) topped off both systems??? tbh while it seems a lot, that much over 1000 miles isn't going to be gushing out of anywhere, its either a slow leak or something like a hose is spurting under pressure or heat expansion. do you smell antifreeze in the cabin or after exiting the car? Lets start with that ?
  17. Personally I would think it to be negligible but it seems that it can be a possibility at the expense of engine durability. But there may be other factors at play. I remember my Honda CT110 wold be a beast* on a colder autumn morning because of the increased density of the cooler air over a warmer summer day. *beast is also negligible terminology
  18. need more information, just saying it says park safely and you have done a few things doesnt help in an online diagnosis which is hard at the best of times
  19. You could throw 20 different things at why there would be a drop in mpg. For me starting at the lower $ end of the scale is the best option. While it most probably would be a waste of $5 to try and have the same symptoms, I would actually do it every 20k just for piece of mind. I've had $5 blow out of my wallet many a time.....(figure of speech) Now if it was $50 or 500, that would be a different story.
  20. i would be hesitant to wait "until it breaks", pretty major component
  21. you can try multiple dealers and play dumb each time. Others on here have had a decline from one dealer and then got it fixed at another. I would call ford and ask about the warranties and which parts are involved without giving any more information than necessary.
  22. Where did you get the 8yr/100k warranty info from. That would be the electric side of a hybrid version from memory. Standard warranty for transmission is 5 yr/60,000 mi Dont quote me, you should really reference your paperwork but you should have also got a warranty when purchasing the vehicle from the dealer, something like a 50/50 within 30 days or 10k miles..... I understand you expect that a dealer would have noticed this prior to putting the vehicle up for sale but most of them are just as dodgy as the dodgy guy down the road. Sorry
