  1. So you were driving at least 5 mph below the posted speed limit? Were you using cruise control or surge and glide?
  2. Are you really getting 45ish mileage at 70 mph? If so, HOW?!?
  3. Mileage depends on the commute. If you run the speed limit on freeways (65 - 70 mph) you will be lucky to get 40 mpg. If your commute is always at 55 and below, mid 40s is reasonable. Much bigger and heavier car than a Prius!
  4. Had the car since October. Temps less than 50 F make it worse. Rain doesn't seem to matter too much.
  5. WOW! I have a 2018 with less than 7,000 miles and commute 50 miles each way with 40 miles on a 70 mph limited access highway and the remainder on 50 mph or lower city streets. I have yet to get 40 mpg displayed for any tank. I'm in the 37-39 mpg range at best.
  6. Driving 55 on a 70 mph interstate...uh, no! I can handle not getting the posted 41 mpg for highway. What I can't tolerate is getting 35/36 mpg (my 2016 Fusion SE Ecoboost got 32 while driving faster) while doing the following during my daily commute. 1. One person in the car with a backpack and coat (trunk is empty) 2. No A/C and minimal heat (I use the seat warmer) 3. Cruise set at no more than 1 mile over any speed limit (33 miles of open interstate with minimal traffic, 45 mile total commute). 4. Stay in the right hand lane except to pass when required. 5. Draft semis as much as possible 6. Braking score > 95% 7. Tried pulse and glide with minimal results (< 1 mpg improvement). I will admit that I do try to stay with traffic when the traffic light turns green, but considering it is so short a distance, that is not a true mileage buster. So, how do you get closer to posted MPGs while driving the car in a reasonable manner?
  7. Unfortunately, you don't get your money back because the car doesn't live up to the stated EPA numbers.
  8. Whatever it is, IT SUCKS!!! There is no difference between the Hybrid and the Energi except for battery size and the plug in option. I have yet to get anywhere close to sticker MPG either in town or on the highway. Braking at 94%+ no more than 1 mph over speed limit, not running AC or heat.
  9. Don't expect a legit answer here. You'll be told you are driving too fast and you should have gotten an ICE only vehicle. I'm doing about the same as you with my 2018. I'm jealous, I'm lucky to get 40 in town at 1 mile over posted speed limits.

  11. First regardless of what mileage you get, you should ALWAYS, REPEAT ALWAYS drive the posted speed limit on interstate grade highways!!!! 66 in a 70 zone is rude!!! Rant over! I have 2018 with 2200 miles on it so far. 35 mile interstate commute with a 70 speed limit. With cruise set at 71 I will get between 36 - 39 mpg per the computer depending on the temperature. Needless to say, I'm not happy!
  12. Really, that's all you've got?!? I use cruise control at all times when conditions warrant it! Been driving for 30+ years and haven't hit anyone yet! Early morning commuting through the towns I drive through is typically all green lights at 35 or 45 mph. So, on cruise at 35, I'm getting a reading of less than 40 mpg. My old ICE Fusion did that, so I'll ask again, what gives?
  13. Is it normal for the gas mileage at 35 mph to be ~38 on the display? That's cruise set at 35 mph, no A/C, no heat, flat road!
  14. Sorry, asked the question wrong. What was the speed limit and in that limit how fast were you normally driving?
  15. I'm doing everything but driving below the speed limit and taking 5 minutes to get the speed limit. I've gone from driving 4-7 miles above the sped limit to 1 mile over. Additionally, I stay with the flow of traffic when leaving traffic lights.
  16. What was the speed limit and what was your average speed?
  17. No question, the Fusion is the most sedan in its class for the money. Bigger and better appointed than the Camry or Accord for less money. I swapped a 16 with a 202A package for a 18 Hybrid with the 602A package. Great looking car, just having mileage teething pains. 2nd tank of gas got 37.1 actual vs 38.0 from the computer. So, better than tank 1, but not close to where I want to be!
  18. considering how gung-ho people on this site are about hypermiling (which is so unsafe it isn't funny) you would think getting a bit more out of the battery would be a good thing! I have a garage kept vehicle, flat roads, and a hybrid that struggles to get 36 mpg actual in combined driving. Yet folks here sing about getting 45 on the interstate! Sum ting wong here!
  19. Its 2 miles you wouldn't get otherwise. The last 8 miles of my commute home is city and I get about 7 of it on battery. But, I get very little on battery the next day
  20. Considering that the Energi is the same car as the Hybrid with bigger batteries that you can plug in to charge. Why can't you plug in the Hybrid?
  21. Never heard that! Hasn't been true with 10+ other vehicles.
