First Fusion Rear Brake Job
Luron replied to vangonebuy's topic in Brakes, Chassis, Suspension & Parking Aid
Vangonebuy, I am thinking about doing my own brakes and rotors on my FFH 2016. Not now but in the future. Mine has 54K miles on it. Brakes seem ok so far. I am aware of putting the parking brakes on service mode if you do the rear brakes in order to compress the caliper pistons. I have been doing pads and rotors on my MDX so I am familiar with brake jobs. My question is: Is there any difference from servicing a hybrid and a non-hybrid beside dealing with parking brake service mode in electronic parking brakes? Thank you.. -

Hi Mark, Thank you for your response. Mine is out of warranty anyway so I did not think of bring it to the dealer for a replacement. I know it's not cheap and now I learned of your experience with the squeaking noise. I however did one last try this morning and it stopped the issue right away. I hope it won't come back. What I did was dissociating the key fob with the seat memory setting. Since I am the only one using the car anyway. Thanks again. Luron

Hi Mark, Mine has been the exact same thing... the driver's side view mirror does the up-down-left-right movements every time I unlocked the car. It started to happen after I washed my car. I thought the setting was messed up somehow so I reset the key fob and even changed the batteries. It stopped and went back to normal. Today it was raining and it happened again and it happened to both of my key fobs. Like you said it has something to do with wet. Please advise. Was yours eventually resolved? Luron

Hi everyone, I just changed the oil on my FFH 2016. This is the first time I did it at 40K. I brought it to the dealer for the last 3 times. The oil drain plug does not have crush washer but a black rubber gasket. I bought some aftermarket rubber gaskets but they did not fit well so I decided to reuse the old one. My concern is that if the rubber gasket should be replaced every oil change. I don't even know if the dealership replaced it last time. I will have to purchase the OEM rubber gaskets from Ford for the next oil change. Thank you for your input. Luron

Hi everyone, I have a FFH '16 and for the last 3 times I just had the oil changes done by the dealership. I've been doing oil changes for all my cars for many years. I just did not want to crawl down there and removed the flash guard. Now I decided to do it. The question I have is that I heard Fusion uses rubber gasket for the oil drain plug instead of crush washers. Does that rubber gasket need to be replaced every oil change? I bought a box of 10 by Dorman. I just wanted to have them just in case I need to replace it. Please advise. Thank you.

Fusion Hybrid 2016 - 0W-20, 5W-20... Does it matter?

Thank you, everyone, for your input. You made me feel better. Still I expect my local dealership to do a better job than this. -
Fusion Hybrid 2016 - 0W-20, 5W-20... Does it matter?

Thank you, guys, for your opinions. I just hope the mechanic went with what said on the oil fill cap (SAE-0W20) and put in the right oil as what he routinely does everyday. I have never been to a bay and don't know how they work but I don't think they would look on a paper to see what type of oil they should put in. -
Fusion Hybrid 2016 - 0W-20, 5W-20... Does it matter?

Hi everyone, I brought my 2016 Ford Fusion Hybrid to a dealership for an oil change (20K). On the invoice it said X0-5W20-QSP. I asked the service guy why they used 5W20 synthetic blend instead of 0W20 synthetic blend as recommended and stated in the manual, he said they used 0W20 but put the wrong thing on the invoice (and he saw the mechanic put in 0W20). I doubt it that he saw it but I hope the mechanic who actually did the job knew what was supposed to go in a FFH 2016. My question is Does it matter if it is 5W20 or 0W20? I know that 0W20 flows more freely in the cold. Does this affect my engine in bad way beside reducing MPG a little bit if any? Thanks for your expertise... -
I just want to update with everyone about this issue. The Ford dealership I brought it to said the drain might be clogged and blew the drain tubes. It's been month now and the problem has not come back after many big rains. I guess that was the problem. Just did not think it could be clogged that fast when it was on 7 months after I bought it brand new.

Thanks for all your responses. The dealership said they cleaned the drains and will see if it happened again. I doubted it was the clogged drains, the tray was clean and I hardly opened the roof so the drains should not get dirty that fast. Next time when I bring it in it will be looked at by a water leak person. I guessed they tried not to give me a loaner last week. I am just not lucky. Water leaks from sunroofs are not common. I have had many cars with sunroofs and never had problems. I will let you know how the problem goes.

Thanks, Larry. I already made an appt to drop it off. They have a special guy only on certain days for water leak. Other than this I really like my Fusion.

Hi everyone, My 2016 Fusion (only 12K) has water leak at the sunvisor base plate. It happens when there is a big rain. It happened the second time today. First time was about a month ago. I am sure it went through the sunroof somehow. Has anyone experienced this for known anything about this? I am thinking of bringing it to the dealership next week. Thank you.

Thanks, Murphy. Good to know mine is not only one it does that.

Totally agree on reading the manual. I put almost 7k on my 2016 FFH since Nov 2015 and still open the manual once in a while and always find something new and useful. You will love it, the most stable driving car I have driven beside my wife's BMW years ago. When I corner or drive down a ramp, I definitely feel that the centrifugal force is defeated by its stability. I hope it is also reliable down the road. First time Ford owner.

Hello all FFH owners and enthusiasts, Please help me figure out this issue. I use Trip 1 to track a specific trip or reset it everytime I fill up the tank. I use Trip 2 to monitor season MPG (cold, warm climate). A little while ago I noticed that the EV mileage indicator in Trip 2 showed a very small number which should have been much higher (did not correlate with the total mileage). I thought either the number was calculated wrong or the number was reset at some point. Yesterday I found out that the EV mileage number was reset after 999.9. It does not go beyond 1000. I watched the number change from 999.9 to 0.0. I don't understand why Ford designs it like this because it does not make any sense when the total mileage under the Trip information goes as high as it can while the EV mileage gets reset every 1000 miles. After it is reset, this number is really useless. I wonder if anyone noticed this issue? Thank you in advance for your inputs.
